I wanted to love this product but the efficacy was non-existent. Because I have very kinky, coily, 4a/4b hair, I need a product that has a nice hold to it, unfortunately this is not that. The product reverts your edges within 5 minutes, even if you lay it down with a fine brush, and a scarf! Disappointed! Please reformulate asap. Better off at the beauty supply.

If you have 3A to 4C hair, don’t even bother buying this. Me and my daughter’s edges raised before we even left the house and we did not even sweat. With the pics provided, my edges sweated off completely after this photo constantlympletright after

If you have type 4c or maybe even 4b hair, this is a hard pass. This edge control turned greasy in a matter of minutes for me🥲 I had so much hope too because I’ve seen so many other Black girls review this product, and the texture looked promising.

It doesn’t hold my 4C hair or edges don’t. It’s not that good of a gel, I have beauty supply gel with better hold. The marketing made it seem like it had more hold but this is how my edges ended up looking within 10 mins with the AC on.

I like a nice sleek slick back with minimal effort and maximum delivery! BREAD slick hold gel is giving me exactly what I want. The Gel leans a little more towards a pomade texture (for a slick back and light edge control) than a traditional loose and jiggly gel but for tight curls and coils to hold down this is going to do the job that sometimes can't be delivered with a more traditional gel on thicker textured hair. I only used the gel at the crown of my hair for a slick back look not an all over gel. I've been playing with it and so far I am pleased!

I have been a very loyal customer to and fan of the Bread Beauty Supply brand for almost two years now and am always extremely excited and grateful to try out new products from the company. I have always struggled with not only technical skill but also confidence when it comes to styling my hair, stemming from a childhood where my parents were intimidated by the texture of my hair and lacked knowledge on how to best care for my hair, and in turn, teach me how to love my natural curl pattern. It has been a rather hard and somewhat discouraging journey of loving self care and also how to best work with my hair’s natural kinks, but once I discovered Bread Beauty Supply I finally felt empowered to experiment with products designed for my ethnic hair. When I first tested out the Bread Beauty Supply Slick Hold Gel, I decided to apply the product to my roots as I attempted to style a slicked back high pony tail on my dry, naturally curled hair which had been washed the day prior. I applied approximately a dime sized amount on my roots and then used a wet brush (this is my preferred type of brush due to the looseness of my natural curls) to neatly brush my fly away’s into my high pony tail. I did struggle a bit to get all of my curls to lay in the same direction, but overall the product was very easy to use for a beginner like me. I also really enjoyed the formula of the product as competing brands tend to leave my hair feeling heavy, greasy, and completely frozen in place with no flexibility to style baby hairs or get a stubborn curl to lay flat. I found that the Bread Beauty Supply effectively locked my brushed back curls into place on my scalp, but also uniquely gave the opportunity to modify the style of my baby hairs without ruining my entire canvas or making me use an excessive amount of the product which makes it stand out as the best in the market in my experience! I am a long-time fan of the brand because of their commitment not only to creating high quality pony!

This gel works really well on my hair! I have 4c hair & it laid my edges down & they stayed down for hours! This product also smells really good! I love it!

Bread is all I use for slick backs! It holds my hair all day and doesn’t make my hair feel crunchy or dry. Will definitely rebuy!

I’ve been loving this to slick back my flyaways. You can either use your fingers/hands or a comb, easy application. It has a light scent but it’s nice.
