Coleman use to be a brand that meant quality but it no longer does. Not only is the latch worthless and I haven't even used it yet but my cooler didnt even come with the coleman badging that is showed in the pictures. Definitely disappointed and will never buy again. I'll go to the thrift and find a real good coleman that was actually made to last.

The latch is not really a locking style latch. Disappointed because I was sure my grandfathers from 50 years ago actually latched when shut so you couldn't open it until you turned it. Bought this with hopes to keep the raccoons from getting into the cooler when camping (at least until they figured it out). But this one doesnt seem to keep lid down when pull up on it. Dont need a bear proof cooler, just one to keep raccoons out. Should have spent the extra money on a Yeti or RTIC.

Lots of memories with these old school Coleman coolers took them on Boy Scout trips and with my own camping buddies still have the original one from back in the 70s. I have acquired two more of the same era since then durable to use anywhere.

I grew up with one of these in every vehicle. Weather was going to the local meat market with my parents or a camping trip or a trip all the way out to the West Coast. These kept our food cold and lasted for generations. And if I ask my parents I'm sure they still have theirs.

The Vintage Steel Belted Cooler is a nostalgic cooler that mimics Coleman’s original mid-20th-century design with a steel-belted exterior and classic look. After about 7 years of mild use, the latch broke and evidently there are no replacement parts.

I have to admit, I bought this for nostalgic reasons. Fond memories of our red coleman cooler, covered in bumper stickers, sitting in the middle of the conversion van being used as a table for whatever game we were playing as we rolled on down the road. As a kid, I didn't realize that the reason it had bumperstickers from all over the country was that it is really well built, but now that I'm and adult and it's my cooler getting stickered up, I'm reall impressed. Keeps food cold all weekend (If the kids don't keep opening it every 5 minutes). Strong enough to be used as a campfire seat as well. I very possibly might just "need" another one.

Not bad, a little pricey, looks great. Paint can't take anything without getting scratches but it held ice well. I was out for a week in the Missouri Ozarks and only had to refill twice and even then it wasn't all that necessary. Temps were cool though. If you can land it on sale like I did and just want that old school aesthetic (it went great with the 1971 220 and the 1965 200a I was running) then get it...but at msrp I would just look for an old school model.

Great quality. Tuff & looks good even with wear from heavy use.

This has that nostalgic look, with modern durability.
