I just upgraded from the original G9 to a G9ii and I’m blown away by the new version. It has particularly pleasing jpegs sooc and a particular highlight is Leica monochrome. Awesome.

This is a fantastic camera with outstanding image quality. The only drawback is the size and weight, which is chunky.

Just what I was looking for. Micro four thirds with autofocus!

Bought this camera few days ago. Firmware 2.2 crashed the camera several times and I lost a handful of photos. Updated to 2.3 but don't know the effect. Mounting an 100-400 telezoom from another brand and I thought I could use that lens with the camera. It is practically impossible. The MF override does not work and the Panasonic camera focus really badly on lit background. In general with this camera lens combination the camera is of no use for me. The focus is extremely slow especially in CAF. Moves like the camera is in video shooting mode, not snappy at all. Focusing in low light is almost impossible. Ergonomics really bad around the AF-on button and the joystick. The focus mode button is in the way of the joystick and the AF-on button is too deeply set. I can't assign exposure compensation to any dial in M mode. Extremely disappointed and ready to sell it away after few days. I will stick with the other brand.

I bought this camera a month ago for my stills photography, having read numerous on-line reviews and comparisons beforehand. I also visited a local camera shop to handle the camera, and to try it with some of the many different lens options available. The grip is extremely comfortable, even when held long-term, and the build quality is robust and reassuring, without being too heavy for a day out in the field. Being Micro Four Thirds (MFT) and mirrorless, the camera is lighter and more portable than a full frame camera. The MFT lens focal lengths equate to twice those of a 35mm film camera, and the wide range of MFT lenses now available provide a wealth of options. The partnership between Panasonic and Leica, in particular, offers some wonderful optics to complement the camera. The menus are extensive and intuitive, aided by the fact that I have upgraded from a Lumix bridge camera, with similar (but much smaller) menus. A dual memory card slot provides options for additional storage/backup, and the tripod mount is off-centre, allowing easy access to the battery compartment whilst using the tripod. The camera is splash resistant and can be used at low temperatures, which is ideal for my outdoor photography. A major plus for me is the in-body image stabiliser, which can be used with in-lens image stabilisers, allowing a much wider range of handheld shutter speeds. A phase-detection Auto Focus, with pre-burst setting of up to 1.5 seconds, allows capture of human, animal, car and motorcycle subjects. The quality of the images produced in the sort period of time that I have owned this camera is stunning. This camera is everything that I had hoped for, and more. I am so looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come, and highly recommend it to any wildlife lover who enjoys capturing high quality images.

Just getting used to new model. Nothing like G9 but af huge improvement for wildlife. Heavy on batteries so fine tuning eco settings. I miss top lcd and alternate eye cup and evf scaling as glasses wearer.

Only had this camera for a few weeks so I'm still getting used to all the new features. There's a lot to learn! The image quality is excellent but then I've always had good results with my previous MFT cameras (G80 and GX80) despite what the detractors of the system would have you believe. Focusing is quick and accurate, the hand-held stabilisation is first rate and the hi res mode is also impressive although not something I'd use all the time. Haven't got round to testing the video aspects but stills are my main interest anyway.

Bought this body in March. I have shot over 2000 images and used the video. Yes there will be a small jump in quality from 20mp G90 to 25mp G9.2. But the interesting thing is how much easier it is to compose and take decent images with the new camera. Animal detect is amazing. There are dogs everywhere. The new app works well. Controls are great, especially the joystick and Q menu. I am really pleased.
