I received this product as part of an education promotion. The scent is OK. The effect on my hair was great! I think it enhanced my color considerably and toned down the brassiness. The texture is thick enough that it stays on my damp hair in the shower and doesn't run off. Standing in the shower for 5-20 minutes for it to work is a bummer; the other choice, getting out of the shower and getting back in, is also a bummer. In the future, I will put in on when I first start my shower to cut down on the wait time. It lasts for quite a few hair washes. I don't know if it actually will last 8 washes, but definitely 6. It was a tiny bit scary putting something so vibrantly purple on my hair, you know, anything can happen, but it was all good. I will continue to use this product in the future. I have short hair, so the 6. 7 oz tube, while pricy, is affordable.

As a gloss it works amazing , it leaves your hair feeling smooth and manageable which is something you need with blonde hair. However when it comes to neutralizing blonde or keeping them bright it needs a little umph , punch more of pigment. I tried it on its own without purple shampoo and did not see any changes in toning . I then compared it to a similar conditioning product for blonde hair and saw that the gloss was lacking in the toning aspect . IF the gloss worked better with blonde hair then it would be the PERFECT product.

Calista Gloss Purple Color Enhancement is a nice purple finishing product. I have white streaks in my dark hair and have been using purple hair products for several years now. This is not a shampoo nor conditioner, but rather a gloss, that is intended to go on to “damp” hair after shampooing and conditioning. The purple quality did not stain my hands or tub, like some purple products do. I left it on for about 5-10 minutes before rinsing. It left my hair soft and shiny, and my whites looked nice and bright. This can be applied to dry hair and left on for up to 20 minutes, but I haven’t tried that yet. That’s probably a good move for someone at the beginning stages of using purple products. This gloss is lightly scented with a warm vanilla fragrance. It’s not a sweet or gourmand vanilla, but rather a “clean girl” vanilla. It’s a calm and spa-like vanilla. If you have blonde or silver hair you need Calista Gloss Purple Color Enhancement. It works as a toner neutralizing any brassy tones you may have leaving your hair bright! The gloss adds a really nice shine and helps will dull hair. The first time I used I left it on for only about 10 minutes to wet hair and noticed a slight difference. The next time after that I left it on for 20 minutes on dry hair and it made a huge difference. My color looked like I stepped out of a salon! It was a bit drying so I did mark it down a star. This is not meant to use every wash. This should last about 6-8 washes. I think it may have dried me out because I used it 2 washes in a row. I’ve tried other “purple” masks and I have to say this is definitely in my top 3.

I’m very impressed with the longevity of this gloss! I have dirty blonde hair that’s on the warmer side, especially the grown out ends that are highlighted. This subdued the brassiness giving a cooler tone for a two whole weeks. It also gives great shine and moisture that also lasts for up to two weeks. I learned that you need to take extra time to thoroughly wash it out, otherwise it’s leaves the hair a little over moisturized and greasy. However, thoroughly rinsing leaves just the right amount of moisture. I only gave 4 stars because even though the longevity is great, there are other products out there that might not last as long, but have more of an anti-brass, ashy, effect. Because of this, I do feel like you have to use another anti-brass product such as a violet shampoo or toner if you want to get more of a dramatic ashy tone. However, if you are going for more of a neutral tone that’s not ashy or warm toned it’s perfect by itself. I personally just like more of an ashy tone that needs more to achieve. *product was gifted in exchange for my honest review
