I purchased this for a black-tie wedding. It is quite elegant, and I received many compliments. My favorite things about this dress are: 1) the lining is the same color and material as the dress--I didn't have to wear a slip or any shapewear; 2) the jacket, which is attached, is of a material that is stiff and doesn't wrinkle; because it almost completely covers the dress portion, there is no need to iron it; I folded the dress in half for transport and was able to put it on and go; 3) the color is beautiful and would complement a variety of hair colors and complexions. Some things to know--the embroidery on the jacket has a shiny gold thread in it. I had thought it looked more silver in the picture. I wore cream colored shoes with it, and they matched well. I don't think white shoes would have looked as nice. The dress does have shoulder pads, which I don't like, but I was easily able to cut them out. I have wide, square shoulders, and the dress fit nicely without the shoulder pads. I think if you have narrow, rounded shoulders, the dress could be loose on you it that area. I am 5'6" and weigh 195. I ordered a 14W and could probably have gotten away with a 12W. The style of the dress allows for it to be a little loose or a little tight and still look fine. I am a very thrifty person, and like to feel good about a purchase, especially if I won't have many opportunities to wear something again. I feel this dress was worth the price, and I would buy it again.

I ordered this dress on-line, along with 5 other dresses. Three of the dresses are 'Alex Evenings". They are all size 20W. Two of the Alex dresses fit me well. But this 'Emboidered Jacket Dress' is much too large! I double checked the size tags; they all say 20W. I like this dress better than the others, but it sure doesn't fit like the others. So, I need to order another one but I don't really know which size to get. I could definitely go down a size, maybe even 2 sizes! on this one. Then again, it's possible that the dress I got was marked with the wrong size. Arggh!!! Oh, woe is me. What to do, what to do. I'll update this if I get one that fits. ta ta
