First off, these things look good. Not “look at me” good, more like “I have my life together and own at least one grill brush” good. The suede and mesh combo hits that perfect balance of retro and clean. You can wear them anywhere short of a wedding… although I’m not ruling it out. Comfort-wise, they’re not those squishy, walking-on-marshmallows shoes. They’re more like, “yeah, I could walk around Home Depot for 2 hours and feel productive about it.” Firm, supportive, and weirdly confidence-boosting. Biggest surprise: these shoes make you stand differently. Hands on hips comes naturally. Nodding at neighbors increases. At one point I caught myself saying “should hold up” about absolutely nothing. Overall: if you want a sneaker that looks sharp, feels solid, and might accidentally turn you into the most observant guy on your block, the 997 delivers.
