This is a follow up to a previous review of same shoe - Topo Ultrafly 6. I have been going through a shoe saga due to unique physical needs of the feet and body. I want to thank Zappos for the continued great shoe selection options; still great customer service; and understanding that the retail shoe business is unique just as feet are. Shoe manufacturing continues to change with each year and shoe model. I appreciate the Zappos standard of understanding this. I like several aspects of the Topo Ultrafly 6 especially for overpronation/stability, style of shoe, breathability and heel to toe stack height being kept on the lower/moderate end. And after trying on several other competitors... I am going to give the Topo Ultrafly a chance in its current model despite some reservations still. I am a long time Topo customer; as I am of Zappos.

I am a long time Topo Ultrafly customer thanks to Zappos. I have worn the brand daily for about six years. These are my daily essential shoes. If you are coming from a previous version of the Ultrafly have an open mind about Ultrafly 6. At first, I didn't think the orthotic would fit properly but it does, actually. I really like how tongue of the shoe is slimmer and not bulky as with so many brands. The bottoms do or may feel harder but the foot feels secure in the shoe. The toe box is still good for toe splay. Shoe has breathability which is a huge plus. Do I need to get use to it? Yes. It is not the Ultrafly of older versions. But that may not be a bad thing. I had to really be with the shoe to get acquainted with it and rethink its presentation. My podiatrist, who is a shoe geek, really liked the shoe when asking his thoughts (he liked it better than the previous version 5).

This is a follow up to a follow up review of my initial review... This shoe, no matter how much I want to wear it and love it, I cannot in its current version. Highly unfortunate. Not the same shoe of earlier years and versions. Just not the same shoe. Those needing orthotics this may not be the shoe for you; where as it use to be. I hope the company will look back to previous models of this shoe and return it, accordingly. I also hope Topo reads this review. Initially, my podiatrist approved this shoe but upon a further look no longer can. Sad. I tend to be brand faithful. At a glance, the shoe has great style; but the comfort and fit isn't so great. I could go on with details as to the changes but I won't in this space. Thank you, Zappos, for the customer service and shoe selections. Nobody does it better. And I hope one day I can return to Topo Ultrafly.

Sizing was fine, but these just did not fit well with my orthotic

I am disappointed in this shoe. The tongue is thick and somewhat stiff. It bothered my ankle. It did not have as much cushioning as my Topo Phantom 3 shoes. Returning.

This shoe seems very stable and has impressive arch support without orthotics. There seems to be some support missing in the metatarsal region in the miid part of the foot. But for an athletic shoe: in general - impressive arch support. The front rocks forward making it easier to run. Which is why I don’t understand why the design has so much toe spring. I think this much toe spring would be a risk for plantar fasciitis. The lining is smooth and the heel cup seems stable and cradling. If topo makes these without toe spring I would like to buy five pairs. Unfortunately because of the toe spring, I have to return.
