One of my holy grails! I am never without a bottle. My 50-something skin loves it. I sub it for my night serum a couple of times/week, following with my moisturizer. It calms and boosts hydration for me by morning.
I have VERY oily skin and somehow this balanced this with an AMAZING glow!!!!!! Most face oils give me weird acne bumps but this doesn’t!!! Would 100% recommend except it takes a while to sink in.
I’ve been struggling with textured, sensitive, congested skin for forever. Lately it’s gotten to the point where any foundation I wear looks awful, including extremely hydrating bb creams and tinted moisturizers. Because of the acne, I’ve always thought I had combination skin, but I also have a sensitive, dry scalp, and lately prewash oils have soothed my scalp brought the life back to my hair again. So I thought maybe my skin is actually dry too and needs oils. After trying this for a week, my skin is already completely transformed and looks like actual skin again. I’m so happy with how my skin is feeling and looking! I use this oil after Fresh soy face wash and before FAB ultra repair cream, and every other night use Paula’s choice toner before the oil to help exfoliate (about two years ago, I simplified my routine a lot to try to give my skin a break). Others may not need a rich moisturizer on top of this like I do. It feels very moisturizing on its own.
I use this after the Drunk Elephant Baby Facial. It soaks right into my skin leaving it radiant. I also use it on elbows and knees for extra moisturizing. It’s not greasy and absorbs quickly.
Love this oil! On my fourth bottle. I have sensitive skin that usually reacts to anything natural or fragranced. In winter or when I need some extra moisture, I add a drop or two to my usual moistirizer and it’s amazing. At night I use it with my prescription retinol. I wake up glowing with no peeling or redness.
Excellent product even for oilier skins. Only reason why this gets 3 stars is the price. This marula oil is sold at Trader Joe’s for $6.99 for 0.85 oz.
I’m usually a huge fan of drunk elephant products and have been using them for years. However, recently, I tried the luxury face oil and I am very disappointed. It leaves a reddish mark on my face, which makes me believe there’s something in it. That is burning my skin or not sitting well with my skin type. Unfortunately, this product for me did not live up to the standards.
Unfortunately, I had the worst experience with this product. I was unaware that this product is NOT for sensitive/acne-prone skin and that it is highly comedogenic (scoring a 3/4 on the comedogenic scale). After about 2 weeks of use I started noticing that I was waking up every single morning with new breakouts on my skin. My skin also felt itchy and inflamed. I was using a new hair product at the time so I assumed maybe that was what made me breakout. I stopped using the hair product and kept using the face oil. A month into use, my face was covered in breakouts - even in places I don't ever breakout (ex. on my cheeks and eyebrows). The breakouts were huge and inflamed and just weren't healing. In desperation, I started doing research on the product and found that this is NOT made for sensitive skin and that it is highly comedogenic. Now I finally understood what was happening to my skin. Lone and behold, I stopped using the product for a week or so and my itchy inflamed skin calmed, I no longer has new breakouts in the morning, and my skin began to heal. I think there should be a warning somewhere about the comedogenic rating of this product as well as a warning that this product is triggering for specific skin types. If you have sensitive skin at all, this is NOT the product for you. I can't believe how badly it destroyed my skin. Unfortunately for me, its going to take many more weeks for my skin to heal and recover from all the damage this product caused.
I have highly sensitive, dry skin, allergies and an autoimmune condition that make me so sensitive to products. This oil is my go to when my skin is dry and inflamed, especially around my eyes. A little goes a long way, so don’t let the price scare you.
My go-to. Use it before doing my makeup (I can’t apply my makeup without this as a first layer of my base) and before bed every day. Have used it since it first came to Sephora Canada many years ago. No issues with my acne prone skin.
