So good paired with Valaya lotion! It gives the perfect “expensive laundry” effect. I’m not sure what they mean by not detecting fig. That was the first note I detected! It’s a very “clean girl” and quietly feminine scent.
I've been testing out some different fragrances because I want a new "skin scent". I've been using the same Jo Malone for 10+ years and thought of getting a second option. The first spray of "James" was a very fresh flower bouquet and I didn't detect the fig notes. After the dry-down, it was very gardenia forward, which is not bad, but I also thought it smelled too much like the water when flowers sit in it too long (but before it starts smelling off). The longevity was not bad, considering I only sprayed it once on each forearm. I tested this twice but felt this wasn't the scent for me. This was also a blind buy since none of the Sephoras near me carried By Rosie Jane in stores. The sillage is not very strong which makes me like the fragrance since I don't want people to smell where I've been walking. At $44CAD it's not a bad price, considering I sometimes forget to use my fragrance in the morning, so I can see it lasting at least through the whole summer
James was a blind buy and I have zero regrets with taking the chance. I am typically a gourmand scents person; YSL Libre Intense is my usual go to. Initially, the gardenia is the only scent to come through; very fresh and a little green. Over time it transforms and the fig balances it beautifully. I occasionally like to layer it with Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia if I want a little sweet. This is not an overwhelming perfume but it's just enough to garner compliments. It's pleasant, fresh, and inviting. If you're reading my review and considering this scent; I highly recommend making the purchase.
Very floral- the fig and amber don’t come through that much, and the gardenia smells more like hyacinths after a rainy day to me. If you like clean florals this is for you!
I’m really getting into fig scents lately. I’m 100% a gourmand lover. This pairs so perfectly with The Maker Lover. It’s a beautiful creamy wood scent.
I purchased this for the amber and fig notes, and when it came through, it was lovely. The Gardenia is too overwhelmed though, and I’d only get whiffs of the amber & fig throughout the wear. If you love gardenia or white florals, you may enjoy this.
This was a blind buy after reading other reviews, it’s a very calming after a rainstorm scent, a bit sweet . It is lovely, however the longevity is short about half an hour to an hour.
Almost through my second bottle, and will continue to buy! Slightly spicy, slightly floral.. it's perfection! It doesn't last a very long time, but I layer it with the perfume oil and that helps. I love that it's not overpowering, it's light and very much a skin scent. I'm prone to headaches from fragrances, and this has one never bothered me.
Obsessed with this scent! The fig is so nice, reminds of Philosykos from Dipthyque. Adding the Amber and gardenia makes it a little sweeter and sexier for me. It has really good staying power for a clean fragrance. The Sullivan is light but it lasts. I’ll definitely be getting a whole bottle!
This is my favorite BRJ scent. It’s a syrupy white floral with this addictive green note, like that super sweet smell of wild grass after a rainstorm. I like putting a little on before bed, it’s so soothing!
