A lighter detangling wizard
I’m a huge fan of Amika’s The Wizard Detangling Primer so I was curious to try the silicone free version. I have long hair with oily roots and dry ends and detangling my hair used to be a nightmare. This silicone free version of the Wizard has the same heat protection and does provide some detangling but not the same silky formula as the original version. It also didn’t have the same lasting fragrance. I had to use more product and ended up with slightly weighed down hair. If you have fine hair and need something more lightweight, this is definitely a better option but I prefer the original.

Whoever named this “The Wizard” wasn’t kidding… this stuff performs actual hair magic. I sprayed this on expecting a decent detangler and somehow ended up with hair that was smoother, softer, less frizzy, and ready for heat styling in record time. My brush stopped fighting me, my blow-dryer didn’t have to work overtime, and my hair looked like it had its life together… even if I didn’t. 😂 It protects against heat, keeps the frizz under control, and leaves my hair shiny without feeling greasy or weighed down. I love silicone-free hair products. I will take added oil over silicone any day, and as a person of African descent, I regularly apply oils to my hair anyway. It gives my 4C hair the slippage it needs to detangle it. I also love that this has heat protection to 450.
