Purifying Pre-Wash Scalp Scrub

Moroccanoil did it again with their Purifying Pre-Wash Scalp Scrub. I’m absolutely loving this addition to my weekly scalp exfoliation routine. The scrub has a refreshing cooling effect that instantly calms and relaxes my scalp. It is perfect for days when it feels itchy or flaky due to product buildup, hard water, or dandruff. Formulated with argan shell powder, it gently exfoliates the scalp, while argan oil nourishes both the scalp and hair. The packaging is so convenient. The nozzle is perfectly designed to apply the product precisely along the hairline and scalp. After applying the scalp does need to be rinsed thoroughly, as the shell granules can sometimes linger if not washed out well. After just one use, my scalp felt noticeably clean and refreshed and my hair looked great too. With continued use, am sure this will help keep my scalp healthier and buildup-free because a healthy scalp truly leads to healthier hair growth.

This scalp scrub made my scalp feel so fresh and clean. I loved that the scrub is coarse so I really felt like it was getting all the products and dandruff off my head. I did find it hard to get all the product out of my hair. I didn't notice til my hair was dry so now I know I need to rinse extremely well.

Omg I love this scrub! As someone with thick, doily, type 4 hair I take my clarifying routine very seriously. This was just the refreshing addition that I needed for my hair wash days. I love that it comes in a squeezable packaging that is great for getting in between braids and protective styles and that it’s easy for travel.

I have GREASY hair. Oil slick city. I use this once every other week (too often and it will make your hair shed more than you'd like it too) with the scalp balance shampoo and my scalp feels amazing the following few days. Really helps with the itch you get from not washing for a few days. Thin haired girlies should all have this.

this doesn’t create any form of lather and the sand / residue remains on the scalp and strands and impossible to rinse out. double washed, used a bit extra product both times, combed through whilst under the shower head, parted/ opened my hair while under the water. i gave up and am stuck with particles all throughout my strands and scalp still. unsure how many washes it’ll take to get it all out. very unfortunate, awful product. i should’ve listened to the first review i saw that was claiming exactly this issue. i ignored it due to the majority reviews that were positive leaving this highly rated. i regret it now. i’ve used a salt scrub shampoo in the past and never had this issue with it, so i assumed it’d be fine. never again with this is all i can say. learned my lesson.

Received as a sample and was excited to try. smelled amazing and started off great. But it is just straight up SAND! Way too exfoliating and so incredibly hard to rinse out even when I used to high pressure setting on my shower head and STILL COULDNT get all of it out of my hair (thick and wavy). This is after a double shampoo and conditioner trying to get the sand out while also brushing my hair in the shower. Do not use!

This cleans the scalp so well! But you definitely need a shampoo afterwards.

This product is a game changer. My hair has never looked better!

I use this once a week and it works great! I have thick hair that I use Ouai shampoo on twice a week.

If you want to help prevent hair thinning, I definitely recommend incorporating a scalp scrub into your routine to remove buildup and keep the scalp healthy. I use it before shampooing about every other week, and it instantly makes my scalp feel clean and refreshed. It has a light, minty scent that feels cooling and refreshing, and it’s not the traditional Moroccan Oil fragrance. The exfoliation is gentle but effective, helping remove excess oil, flakes, and product buildup without irritation. After rinsing and shampooing, my scalp feels healthier and my hair looks lighter with more volume at the roots.
