Metal Detox Repair Pre-Shampoo Treatment for Dry, Damaged Hair

Amazing Product, Smells great and much needed on my haircare products.

I recently removed my braids and decided to try a pre-shampoo treatment to address my dry hair. This was my first experience with such a product, and L'Oreal Professional's treatment proved effective. Following the instructions, I sectioned my hair in the shower, applied the treatment, and then used my regular shampoo and conditioner. The treatment has a clear, gel-like consistency, and I found I needed about 10 pumps for adequate coverage, though it doesn't lather much. It helped improve my hair's dryness and the effects of hard water, making my hair feel silkier and less frizzy. The fresh scent, with a hint of grapefruit, complemented the lightweight feel of my hair, which was clean and not weighed down. While shine didn't noticeably increase, the hydration and softness were definite improvements. I wish the instructions were clearer about usage frequency, as they didn’t mention how often to apply the treatment. Although it's somewhat pricey, I plan to reserve it for when I remove longer-worn hairstyles.

As a hairstylist, I was pretty excited about this because, one I’ve never seen a product quite like this before and two, I really appreciate when brands try something new verses trying to recreate what’s already been done. L’oreal Professional Metal Detox Pre-Shampoo immediately had me intrigued. I had always assumed “Metal Detox” was really only intended for people with hard water. But I was wrong. Pollution in the air is enough reason for anyone’s hair to benefit from using this metal detox product. I quickly realized this is much more than a pre-shampoo, it’s more like a pre-shampoo-treatment & following the instructions are key. This is a clear, thin, serum like texture, that’s neither greasy or oily. Before applying, I remove as much water as possible from my hair, careful not to water down the potency. Avoiding my scalp, I focus on getting the product on my ends & comb it through. I’ve let it sit for 2 mins or 20 minutes. Each use, I have to remind myself, DO NOT RINSE this out before applying my shampoo. Probably because that’s what I’m used to doing. I was surprised how well this product & the shampoo incorporate to create a super rich lather. I rinse, condition & can tell a difference in the way it feels. Overall, I noticed many huge improvements that I can’t say I’ve been able to achieve with any other one product. I’d say the biggest difference is how my color appears more vibrant & really shiny. It feels so soft, yet full of body. I have a lot less noticeable split ends, less buildup & it always feels so clean, to the point I can skip a fewer days in between shampoos. This product is extra fragrant and lasts- in all the best ways. I’ve used this product with the L’Oréal Metal Detox shampoo/conditioner & I’ve used other brands. Either way, I was able to rep the same benefits each time. Needless to say, L’Oréal Professional did not disappoint this lady. I will say, I think L’Oréal should consider adding “treatment” to the name. This is much different

I have been using this now for about 2 weeks now and my hair really has been feeling a whole lot stronger and my ends aren’t breaking off as much as they were prior to trying this out. I have super long hair and now that I’m getting a little bit older it seems to break off a lot more than it used to. I work a lot and have to wear it up so it does a lot of damage. After using this one time I could feel and see a lot of difference. It doesn’t lather up a whole lot so that’s something to get used to but it is a pretreatment so that’s probably why. Also the smell is not the best but it’s also not the worst either. It also doesn’t matter because again it’s a pretreatment so you don’t have to worry about your hair having that scent.
