Shalimar L'Essence Eau de Parfum Intense with Vanilla

[I received this product in exchange for my honest review] I really like this fragrance. At first, it remind me of oud with a warm , slightly smoky scent. After a while , it becomes softer with a light powdery note. It is a little strong at first but then settles down nicely. The scent feel very calm and peaceful to me. It lasts around 6 hours on my skin which is pretty good. The bottle is very beautiful and convenient to carry around.

Did I receive a bad bottle? I wore Shalimar years ago so I can’t figure this out. I can barely smell it. I just received it as a birthday gift to myself and it’s supposed to be intense, but I’m not getting it.

The perfume smells like strong baby powder and sweet vanilla ,longevity on the skin is all day and night outstanding ,it definitely projects .i would say is a great quality if you enjoy very powdery scents .

This scent reminds me of my grandma as this was her go to. I was reluctant to buy it because I didn’t want to smell like a grandma. The good news is I don’t and it is a fresh smell in a beautiful bottle. It is definitely one of three of my go to scent.

Upon first spray, it can be a bit overwhelming so remembera little goes a long way. It has a nice depth to it with cozy, vanill notes. It feels perfect for date nights or special occasions. As it settles on your skin, it turns into a soft, lovely vanilla musk that smells amazing and long lasting!

I think it'd be good for romantic evenings and special occasions. When the scent develops you are left with a fabulous vanilla musk.

I really enjoy this new version of Shalimar. The original probably has more depth but also has a bit of a bite that can be overwhelming. L'Essence is a softer, more contemporary version of this classic scent. while retaining the beauty of the original. The vanilla is sophisticated and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. It stays closer to the skin but is still long lasting. Does not have the projection of classic Shalimar and is a better version for everyday and year round wear.

I am a little disappointed, but not so much as to return it, but glad i didn't get the larger size. It doesn't last very long. Also, I do not like the smoky beginning. I'd thought there would be more vanilla. It also does seem more like for someone over 65ish, to me. I figure perhaps I can layer it to use it up. I think the fans of Shalimar will like it, perhaps. I like powdery and vanilla, but if I had sniffed this first, I would not have gotten it. I have some other Guerlain, so assumed I'd really like it.
