SWISSMAR 8 Person Classic Raclette Party Grill with Reversible Cast Iron Grill Plate

The only cast iron electric griddle-type appliance I could find on the market. The heating element isn't an even distance away from the cast iron tray. One side gets hotter than the other. I did pancakes as the first thing with the griddle. It's hard to know what setting to put it on as it's just a spinning knob from low to high. No indication of temperature. Once cooked all the way through (in roughly 4 to 5 minutes with the knob turned up about 2/3 through the setpoint range) it flips over easily and looks very evenly heated. Not the largest surface to use, wouldn't mind it being a little larger. But this allows for easier storage and easier maneuverability since it's not so heavy. I may have considered a different griddle if there were even others to choose from on the market. Overall, I'm pleased with the appliance. Macy's was by far the best list price and shipping option. Plenty of other places were way overpriced.

This was a gift for my daughter. She and Her kids, which includes teenagers have really enjoyed this. The kids are all involved and get to cook their own food.

Very worthy addition to your kitchen gadgets. We have already used it several times. Quality item.

I bought the raclette grill after enjoying it at a friend’s home. In fact, I bought four - one for myself and early birthday gifts for my three daughters. We enjoyed a dinner with our 10 and 13 year old grandchildren. Cooked steak, ham, chicken, broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, peppers, a variety of cheeses, and bread. (I blanched the veggies - except peppers - ahead of time.) We had a fun time trying different combinations. Our 13 year old grandson said it was “very cool”!

This seems to be an excellent grill and is fun to use for a party. On first use, I struggled to balance heat between the two levels. When the top was hot enough for thin pieces of raw meat, the bottom was hotter than I'd like for the cheese. Perhaps this just takes practice, but I'd like more detailed instructions.

The cast iron is heavy (as expected) but easy to use and clean! We love our Raclette!

This is a delicious, social way to eat dinner and it’s fun for small get togethers or family dinners. I love this Swissmar raclette. It works wonderfully, Heat’s up quickly and stays consistent throughout. Having the flat griddle on one side and the grill on the other makes this great for crepes or omelettes or grilled meats and veggies. This is very simple to use and there really are no rules - just pour melted cheese over anything that strikes your fancy.

Great Raclette grill! Heats quickly. Vegies grilled nicely on top while cheese melted on no-stick teflon paddles below. Grill is a nice size and able to easily cook meat, vegies, fruit, anything you can think of. Perfect activity for families and gatherings with friends.

This grill is pretty awesome. The cast iron top is HEAVY. Overall works great, my friends and I really enjoyed using it for NYE. I do have to say, the grill top is a bit hard to clean, as the deep ridges get food caught in them which is hard to get off. I would recommend a good oil down (or two) before using, and having butter or oil on hand while using. Additionally the melting cup holders are maybe a bit flimsy, as I bent a few handles while opening the set, but that was a user error on my part. With normal use they should not bend.

Great for party. Especially for raclette but it can also be used to grill meat.
