Cut not as described

I'm having a bear of a time finding jeans that fit. I tried 18W, but they're too loose. I ordered two pairs of the Ami Skinny Jeans (18W) in two different rinses, and one pair was not skinny in the legs at all - more like a straight leg. I wanted calf-hugging skinny. So, I'm returning them. The other pair I hoped to shrink a bit, but no such luck. If anything, time in the dryer made them even stretchier. I just ordered a pair of NYDJ in a regular 18, hoping the slight difference in sizing will be enough for a good fit. The 16 was too small.
