Used food grade mineral oil to treat prior to use. Looked BEAUTIFUL until after first use. Washed with mild soap, wiped excess water and left to stand. After drying, wood had fine splinters on surface. Sanded and reapplied mineral oil. Looks like this is a common issue with these boards. Am I going to have to sand after every use? Is this normal for acacia wood?
Lovely chopping board, but upon first wiping with water to clean it from the retail store (haven't even used it), the wood splintered up rough across the surface! That can't be right. I will take back to store. Really disappointed with what I thought would be a quality item from a quality maker.
my board arrived with an ugly flaw. It even had wood putty used to fix it. I needed the board, so I am using it, but I would not buy anything else from them.
Splinters of wood chipping off with first use. Tried lightly sanding with slight improvement-still splinters. It looks beautiful but not a smooth finish. Coloring on towel after washing as well. Maybe that’s why it’s on sale? Disappointing. Too late to return after washing and using.
Beautiful and functional wooden cutting board at a fair price. So far, we love it.
Cole & Mason Barkway Acacia Wooden Chopping Board with Handle
Love my wood board so much that I got two! It’s the perfect size to prep and cut food, and easily wipe off. Then it’s so beautiful to also serve food on.
I was so impressed with the beauty of this cutting board. It is a perfect size for my needs as well. After one washing, the color was coming off on the drying towel, so I was a little concerned about that getting on the food I chopped. Eventually it stopped leaving marks on the drying towel after a few washings. But now after fewer than 10 uses, it has a lot of little wood slivers that you can feel as you dry it. I don’t want to eat wood slivers either, and I am not sure how hearty this board will be.
This was a gift and it was a big hit!
Not good quality of wood.. Just okey to purchase if its on sale. Otherwise its not worthy to buy full price.
