Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machine

I was soooooo disappointed. I finally ordered this machine and the whole bobbin mechanism did not work (would not engage to wind a bobbin). Singer agreed it was a mechanical issue and I had to send it back... BUT... they were apparently out of stock for this model (4452) so I just returned it. They did send me a 10% discount code on a new one at a later time but I thought this was pretty poor since I had to pack everything back up and carry the thing back to a Fed Ex store. At a minimum, they should have offered to exchange it for one of the color versions (which seem to be priced higher only for the flower decals and different color plastic - I know its a popular machine but NOT my problem that they were "out of stock"). I am a Singer girl from WAY back (this would be an upgrade for me, Mom and Grandma swore by them) and I was sad this whole thing did not work out. Now my sewing projects are on hold while I decide if I want to try again or not.

Love my machine still learning, buy it.

It took me a few days to set up this machine after I got it. I'm always wary of a new machine. In fact going through the setup tutorial, I must not have been paying a whole lot of attention because I left the sewing foot down while I was threading it and wondered why it wasn't raining right. I went back through the tutorial, put the sewing foot up and threaded it. I put in some material and started to sew and WoW! Super smooth, goes slow or fast, i love it!

The only issue I have with this machine, I ended up getting the one with the presser foot adjustment knob that sticks up on the left side. This was cranked all the way down and we spent too much time trying to figure out what the issue was and then went on YouTube. We figured it out but there was quite a bit of frustration for the group trying to use the machine. I had purchased a 6380 model prior to this one and wish I'd purchased the same machine instead of this one. The 6380 seemed to have less issues overall. This is a secondary machine for when friends are visiting so not my main machine.

Returned. Motor wouldn’t wind the bobbin.

Have used the machine. Easy to setup and liked the power. Biggest problem is that you have to hold down the reverse direction switch to sew backwards. Otherwise, pleased.

Its still having a little hard time with thick webbing but its pretty dang good

This is a simple great machine. I've the same model# for over 30 years and just gave it to my daughter for her to learn how to sew and bought myself a new one the same model#. It's been just as great so far.

Mostly pros, some cons. Pros: good speed; can sew heavy fabrics, comes with walking foot (wonderful!); has a foot tension dial; winds a good bobbin; haven’t tried the buttonhole function yet; removable arm is easy Cons: the foot is not changeable by hand!! Unbelievably, you need a special tool/screwdriver and have to turn the machine on its side and have super-dexterity to just change the foot!!; bobbin cover pops on and off but is difficult to get in (as opposed to one that slides); throat is smaller than my 1990s lower level Singer; needle placement does not seem to align with the seam guide lines (e.g., 5/8 isn’t accurate); bobbin tangles easily until you get used to turning the wheel the right amount after done with a stitch run;

Singer always has been the best sewing machine in the market! Quality, endurance and beautiful seems! It was what I expected, no surprises..the best always!
