Although I have not used the purchased item yet , I would say the nutcracker works to open hard shell food items; such as crab, lobster and maroons. I'v been showed it's usages are for a variety of things, other usages are to hold the hot steaming steak high so to yield your arm and feel its weight, not hit.
it is great at cracking the claws but at the joint area is a little hard to reach.
OK, but need more than one try when cracking small nuts.

This works great. Around the holidays my father use to buy nuts in their shell. He had a nutcracker set. (Not the soldier nut crackers). I was looking for a set for myself. Couldn’t find one online anywhere. Glad I found this.
