there is a steep learning curve because I am 1} old 2} no teenagers to help. That being said, I love this product. There's some things that I had to do because I am not that strong to use this product. First of all, even though the instructions tell you to get the plunger pull the plunger up once it's attached, I did everything before I attached it to the machine. So first, I pulled the plunger up until I heard the click. Once that happened, I did detach the ice holder and other parts but mine came together so I didn't need to remove the blade. I also found that because it was off of the machine, it was a lot easier to align the ice cup with the ice inside with The whatever you wanna call that big white thing that is gonna run the shaver. However, once I got it all set up it made really great shaved ice. What you want to know is at the end. It will come out kind of chunky because I did not make sure my ice blocks were level but frankly, I don't care. This is a great way for me to get water.

Ok, I don’t feel like I am normally an idiot, but don’t make the mistake I did. The instructions aren’t super clear that you must run the ice puck container under water to release the puck and then use it. Seems obvious in retrospect, but instructions not clear. If you do not remove the puck, you will feel like it is surprisingly hard to get the Detachable Ice Cup mounted and then your mixer will struggle. You will wonder why, then notice black in your shave ice. And then realize you are shaving plastic. Not good. Especially since only 4 cups come with the machine. Sigh. Once set up properly, it seems to work much better. Obviously. Might have ruined the blade with the plastic bc texture is more snow cone than shave ice to this exHawaii girl. But maybe user error hurt a bit here. Doh! Don’t be like me.

Two of the ice molds broke on the second use!! I didn't want to believe the bad reviews on the molds and took a chance but it happened to me too :(

The ice shaver attachment was uncomplicated to assemble and a breeze to use. Unfortunately, unlike most people, I have no inclination in taking a lot of random photos but I can assure you the product works really well and served my purpose! Thanks Kitchen Aid 😊

Used this for one summer several times and enjoyed it. Put the parts away for winter. When we got it back out we found that the main upper housing does not connect with the driving shaft that is screwed into it anymore. Took the metal shaft mechanism (that ends in a square profile post), and looked inside the white main unit. There appears to be something missing or broken off, because the metal shaft no longer connects to the gear mechanism. We have no idea what happened, but what a total bummer. Can't afford a new one. Can't sell this one. Can't fix it. Can't find a replacement part. Pretty unhappy.

Works great and my granddaughter loves having snow cones!

I have owned many ice shavers. Thus is fantastic. Fast , great texture for snowballs. Grandkids love it ! Clean up simple.

Great add-on to our KitchenAid mixer. Easy to install and use. It is really well made.

Have had the shave ice attachment for a 3 years. I love it! I have a lot of the attachments. Nothing was not worth it. Even use the larger appliances in my kitchen. My KitchenAid appliances have all been reliable.
