How do I get this lamp wire to go down without breaking it?

The quality of the lamps was less than expected. I returned them.

I like the lamps but the lampshades are not so good in quality. I called to let them know and the sent a replacement, but the replacement was worse than the original. It is not noticeable until you actually turn the lamp on. Then you can see that the shade has been slightly bent or somehow dented and it makes an ugly shadow when the bulb is on. I just gave up at that point.....

Looks like the lamp shade damage issue is fairly common. The first pair I received arrived with one shade completely crushed and unusable, while the other was perfectly fine. I called customer service and they wonderfully (and immediately) sent me a replacement shade. The replacement looked like it had been thrown in a box by someone angry about having to work that day having already given two weeks’ notice. It was atrocious but somewhat usable and I didn’t feel like reaching out again, so I keep the worst parts turned to the wall. On another note: while this is called brushed nickel, only the base and top are “brushed”. The center swirly part is extremely shiny, silver mercury glass. I feel like a bit of an idiot, as the details plainly state that, but it’s the fourth bullet down and I completely skipped over it. A recommendation would be to call this a mercury glass lamp instead of a brushed nickel lamp, as the brushed nickel is clearly not the chief material. A note, too: I purchased a version that seems to be for sale no longer, but that came packaged with a dimmer conversion kit. Just a word of warning about that: the dimmer device plugs into your outlet and the lamp plugs into the device. The problem is that the whole assemblage ends up jutting out about 3-4” from the wall. When you’re dealing with a night table lamp and the outlet is behind the night table, that presents a bit of a problem. All that being said, they’re pretty lamps and if shiny things suit your decor, I’d definitely recommend them, which is why I can still give a 3-star review despite my complaints.

I love the Lamps. I purchased them for the office a co-worker relied, “they brought an elegance to the front entrance”. You will not regret the purchase. They are light weight, package beautifully, and easy to assemble.
