My perfect lens for everyday photography. I am a passionate photographer, I always use this lens with my EOS Rebel SL3.
Everybody knows about the nifty fifty! It's a wonderfully small prime lens that has a fast aperture for a cheap price. The STM variant does seems quite a bit better from the previous version. I have used this lens on my Canon T3, T5i, and now my R8. It works perfectly for portraits or if you need more light in darker situations. It is softer at f/1.8, but sharpens up around f/2.8, which is still perfectly usable. It's a little tight on crop though, but I felt it was was easier to use on full frame for more everyday situations. I'm mostly planning on switching to the RF 35mm, but the 50mm is still an invaluable tool to have in most photographer's and even videographer's bag.
Lens doesn’t seem to take great pics like I thought it would. Still working it bc I really want to love it.

Listen. Buy this lens. It is so cheap compared to the other Canon lens and you can get stunning pictures with it. Stunning. At the price point and for what you can achieve with this lens, I would highly recommend adding this to your camera bag.
