Zojirushi Umami 5.5 Cup Micom Rice Cooker Warmer

Perfect rice every single time. Not an Asian family so no history of choosing or cooking rice, and machine has been great way in. Now feeding family rice at least weekly, and becoming slight rice snob, in good way. Takes longer than cooktop (especially brown rice) but zero effort once it starts. 5.5 cups more than enough for dinner for 4 or 5, usually with leftovers. Pour in milk/sugar/blueberries etc for breakfast next morning. Tried gaba brown once - only disaster so far, unsure why - but will try again some lazy day. Easy to clean, minimal maintenance, stores in pantry between uses (retractable cord would be nice!) No issues with clock battery after 3+ years - although timer more important than clock anyway. But man, that non-stick bowl! Before buying, read that finish can be delicate, so obsessively careful from day 1: only plastic serving spoon ever touched bowl. Washed only by my hand, with non-abrasive sponge. Still, with ~10 uses: tiny chip in non-stick coating. Now 3 years later, has couple more tiny chips. Will likely replace bowl soon (machine itself looks like it will go on forever) but given care I think it should last longer. Hence 4 stars, not 5.

I took the plunge and invested in this absolute boss of a rice cooker and have no regrets. While I can cook rice in a pot on the stove or in my pressure cooker, the texture is hit or miss. With this beauty I get perfect texture no matter what type of rice I am making, and it will stay at the perfect temperature for as long as I need. The steamer basket is another nice touch so that I can cook multiple things at once. The unit has a fairly large footprint but the capacity is perfect for my small family. This should be the only rice cooker I'll need for the rest of my life.

I had a very hard time deciding between the many rice cookers offered and I am convinced I got the perfect one for my husband and I... I sprouted some Brown Jasmine rice and cooked it on the "Brown Rice" setting and it was amazing!!! I use it almost every day!

This is my 3rd zoji rice cooker purchase. I bought 1 for myself about 10 years ago, loved it so much I bought another as a gift for mom, and now just purchased a new model for myself. The settings are easy to use and rice comes out great with no effort at all. Dirt easy to use. My old one is still working fine after 10 years, but the pot is a bit scratched up. I could easily have purchased a new pot (the thing you put rice in, dunno what the actual term is) but I just passed the old one on and got myself a new one. Mentioning this to make it clear I think the zoji rice cookers can def last >10 years, maybe 15 years? Anyways, I'm happy with my purchase. My new zoji and me will be hanging out together for the next 10 years at least.

Great rice cooker, but it takes quite a while to fully cook the rice

I bought this for the umami setting and it’s amazing. It’s like magic to your tastebuds.. the way it brings out the extra deliciousness in the rice is incredible. My rice game has reached a whole new level.

I bought this in January 2023 and in under a year, the coating of the rice cooker bowl has already chipped off. I have never used anything other than the provided rice scooper on it so I don’t understand how it happened. I’m a little disappointed since I decided to upgrade to this rice cooker with the idea that I’ll use it for a long time but I already need to purchase a replacement bowl.

The rice taste amazing when cooked in the rice cooker. I would definitely recommend adding the umami rice cooker to your kitchen.
