Newair Nugget Ice Maker Countertop, 44 lbs in 24 hours Ice Machine Nugget, Self Cleaning Ice Maker

I wanted to add my experience because another review here describes almost exactly what has happened to me with this ice maker. I have now had two Newair Nugget Ice Makers develop the same problem. The first unit worked well initially, but eventually developed an extremely loud squealing noise that made it difficult to continue using. Newair replaced that unit under warranty, but I was told that the replacement would be a one-time courtesy. Unfortunately, about nine months later, the replacement unit is now developing the exact same squealing issue. When the machine works, I actually really like it. It produces plenty of nugget ice and does what I bought it for. The problem is that experiencing essentially the same failure on two separate units makes it very difficult for me to have confidence in the long-term reliability of this product. Another reviewer reported going through multiple Newair ice makers with similar failures and was eventually told that a water pump needed to be replaced. I have not contacted Newair about replacing the pump on my current unit yet, so I cannot say whether that is the cause of my issue. However, after reading that review and seeing the same symptoms on two of my own units, I have very low confidence that replacing individual parts would provide a lasting solution. For a countertop ice maker at this price point, I expected considerably better durability. Having the original unit fail and then having the replacement develop the same problem less than a year later is extremely disappointing. Based on my experience with two separate units, I would not purchase this model again unless Newair addresses the underlying reliability issue.

Would rate 0 of I could. Lasted 13 months, auger broke, and they tell me only 1 year warranty. And won't even provide parts to get it fixed. It's the lowest quality appliance I have ever purchased.

Works really well so far and is short enough to go under my counter, big plus for me!

Better than the previous model, however the ice capacity is smaller. Not much an issue, unless you have an immediate high demand.
