I bought these boots just over a month ago. Service was good, boots look nice and feel study and reasonably comfy. This biggest problem is the sole. It has terrible performance in wet conditions. Walking in Wellington CDB were there are many lengthy slick surfaces in winter like paved footpaths I almost slipped over 4 times and had to walk a lot slower than usual to make sure I did not fall. I have boots and shoes that are over 5 years old and were cheaper which are a lot safer to wear in wet conditions and I have had to switch back to wearing them for safety. It is a shame. This was my first ever purchase with Rodd and Gunn and for the price point and with the word "military" in the name I did have higher expectations for these boots. Please for future designs work on improving the sole considerable so that these boots can perform as expected in winter conditions. Knowing what I know now about these boots I would not have purchased them.

Uppers are crafted from premium USA leathers that are full of character, with matching suede collars, antiqued finished metal trims, with an inside YKK zip for convenience/ease of entry. The upper features perforation detail on the waist panel, and is lined with leather and fabric, with a removeable, leather covered molded polyurethane footbed to make these even more comfortable. The cleated outsole is two tone molded rubber with a separate heel and rubber top piece.

Overall good comfortable shoe. However, bought in Sep 2025 and now in July 2026 the soles are coming off the shoe- so expect to get about 9 months out of them. Which is disappointing

If you hate your feet, buy these. They will literally torture the backs of your feet and progressively grind your skin. They look good though!
I’ve had these for a little over a month and I absolutely love them. They are extremely comfortable, way more comfortable than a lot of the other boots that I’ve purchased from other companies. The craftsmanship is beautiful and I am very happy with the versatility that I have being able to wear them in a more casual setting or dressing them up a little for a night out.

The most disappointing leather shoes I have ever had the misfortune to own. For a leather boot advertised as 'military' style in less than 8 months of wear only around an office with no more than ten minutes walking on pavement for a commute, both soles have worn out and there is even a hole in one. I have another pair of leather shoes coming up on a decade old that have been treated no different that are in better condition than these. I would expect better longevity from a pair of cheap trainers even going for regular runs.
