Mikasa Ciara Bone China 16 Pc. Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

I purchased this Mikasa fine china set expecting long-term durability appropriate for everyday use. Unfortunately, after normal washing, the glaze on the plates developed an opalescent/hazy appearance, and the teacups stain easily from tea. This is not simple surface residue—the glaze itself appears to have changed, which makes stains much harder to remove. I followed standard care instructions and did not use abrasives. Fine china should not degrade or become porous under routine household washing. What’s especially concerning is that another household I know owns the same set and has experienced the exact same opal-like glaze change, suggesting a manufacturing or batch issue rather than misuse. I contacted Mikasa customer service and was offered a 20% discount on a future purchase, which does not resolve the defect in the set I already own. Replacement or refund would have been more appropriate given the quality issue.

The brand says it all. Quality dinnerware that doesn’t weigh a ton yet is durable and can hold up to the dishwasher, and clumsy teens.

I just bought them and have used them a few times already. I love them so far! Bright white, easy to clean, nice look. Bowls are a bit big for my use.

These plates are light weight and beautiful. A little glossy shine.

Very nice and good quality bone china

While the plates themselves are beautiful, I unfortunately was only delivered 1 set when I was charged for 2. Despite confirmation from UPS that I was only shipped a single box, Macy's has so far not sent me a second set or reimbursed me. I have had a very bad experience with their customer service, they have been difficult to reach and unresponsive. I would recommend buying these plates, but from another store if at all possible as unfortunately my experience has been similar to other customers who received damaged products and missing items.

I love our new china! I ordered 3 sets. The only problem was there were 2 broken bowls in one of the sets.
