After installing the batteries, and pressing the switch to start grinding, the grinder would not shut off. After several tries, I did manage to shut it off. But then, with just the slightest touch or movement, and without touching the on switch, it would start grinding again. I wasted much salt on the countertop trying to turn it off. Terrible product.
Well, we are getting old (in the 80s!) so using Cole and Mason manual grinders was becoming difficult; these electronic grinders from Cole and Mason make getting fresh salt and pepper a lot easier. They are much more expensive than hand grinders, or even other electronic grinders we considered, but we have had Cole and Mason hand grinders for years, and they are the best. We like these battery driven grinders because we don't have to have yet another appliance plugged into an electrical socket all the time as is the case with most other electronic grinders. However, the grinders don't hold much salt or pepper, so you have to refill the grinders frequently. You also need to adjust your expectations with most electronic grinders, and these are no exception. The ground pepper and salt particles are very, very irregular in size no matter what setting you choose. This seems to be the case with a number competitors' grinders. True, the finest setting can grind the spice to fine, dust-like particles, but the courser settings produce a mix of every size particle from dust to a few chunks at the same time, making it hard to gauge how much spice you have actually put on your food. The manual Cole and Mason grinders spoiled us with their more consistent grind sizes and large storage capacities, but we are going to adjust.
I bought this brand before and they lasted for years. These work great but they do use a lot of batteries and are hard to fill. The grind is perfect.
Needlessly complicated to use: attaching and detaching pieces difficult to perform. Two people trying for 20 minutes to get the device to work before repacking for return.
Takes to many batteries.

Bought this for my mom for Mother’s day. Came a couple of days late, but she loves using them!! She and my grandmother think they are so cool. Only wish they could change speed (i.e. more grains/faster); I often find the speed a little slow. But they offer much control!

What did we ever do before spice shakers? I tell you what we did, we spilt spices everywhere, we emptied jars of chilli powder in to dishes by accident rendering them inedible and we also got teaspoons stuck in spice jars! NO NEED TO WORRY NOW! Get yourself a Cole & Mason Saunderton spice shaker and season with control!
