Columbia Men's Backcast Water 8-inch Shorts

Columbia should go back to the original design. These use to be my favorite shorts along with many other customers but not anymore. Why fix something that isnt broke? Very disappointing because I have been wearing the backcast shorts for over 20 years and Im afraid they have lost another customer. There is no longer a side pocket, the front pockets are too deep and hang past the bottom of the shorts if you have anything in them.

Beware: these shorts are so baggy, I would not recommend swimming in them. The moment you get in the pool, the short legs will ride up to your waist exposing your netted nethers to anyone with goggles on. They’re not even that comfortable outside of the water because they’re just sooo baggy

I have bought a number of PFG shorts for the last 20+ years. The craftsmanship is good and the durability excellent. However, one feature I liked was the side pocket that I could put my phone in. The last three pair that I purchased did not have that feature and looking at the current pictures does not show that pocket feature. There are reasons for redesign, but in this case you have lost a lifetime customer!!! 😢

These used to be great shorts. Now they suck. They got rid of the extra side pocket and the front pockets are so deep that if you put anything in them the white mesh pocket hangs below the bottom of the leg. Whoever made these decisions should rot in hades. I have spoken!

I bought Backcast III in the past and it had a phone pocket - the Backcast IV does not and I am very disappointed. Last year I contacted Columbia and asked them to make the phone pocket larger - I guess they just eliminated it. They should let people know there is no phone pocket.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great shorts. I have about 10 pairs, different colors. The ones made in Vietnam fit great; the ones of the same size (L6) made in Indonesia are too big.
