When I saw the Samsonite Merlot set with backpack on Facebook, knew this was what would be best for me. The longtime name in luggage for many years, Samsonite has done it all, so I knew it was a brand I could trust. The discount offered sealed the deal! Plus, I love Merlot! I just returned from a 6 night trip, and was able to manage my luggage well and easily. The wheels made it easy to get through the airport. I can heft the bag into the overhead bin, and the backpack was great under the seat. Thank you!!

Agree with a previous review that the wheels are not the best and bag looks rather beat up after one trip. One feature it needs is a strap on the bottom (like the one on the side) in order to lift from the top and bottom simultaneously. Without anything on the bottom, it’s awkward. Space for packing was good, and the ability to expand the bag made it okay for checking. Expanding it does exceed most airlines’ carry-on dimensions. The pink lining is great for seeing things! Laptop access very nice until boarding a small plane. I was prepared and had already put laptop in personal tote. (It does defeat the purpose of having that feature though.) I have larger Samsonite pieces that I like much better. Was hoping for similar satisfaction with this carry-on.

I was very pleased with my luggage and all the features., I.e., quality, zippers, handles…overall great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to use this bag on our recent trip, but was so disappointed! The rolling wheels are terrible, the handle is awkward to extend and after 1 trip, my bag looks like it’s been run through a blender and has a big gouge out of the handle. I really wanted to love this bag, the pink interior is so cute and the exterior pocket sold me on it. The problem I ran into with that, is on smaller planes they want to put your carryon under the plane, so I have to move my laptop into my under the seat carryon which is what I was trying to avoid.

I was able to fit a week worth of cloths in this bag, plus my electronics. I had to be a bit picky on what I took, but it worked out perfectly. I had more than one compliment on the color, and matching backpack. I love how it rolls and the bag sits perfect on the handle.
