Disney Princess Moana Live-Action Ceremonial Collector Doll, Ages 6+

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a highly detailed, meticulously crafted doll with several features that inspire learning more about Moana the character in the live action movie. Definitely a collectors item or one to be handled with care if played with! She wears a plastic version of a feathered headdress atop a fulll head of two toned curly hair, partly pulled back. The ceremonial dress is a layered mix of textures wirh a straw fringe and rows of woven flowers. Around her waist are plastic hanging flowers attached loosely with a small hook (easy to move around, not as easy to keep in place). The blue bodice is a permanent grainy texture painted on, which is a little odd considering the craftsmanship of the skirt. Another unique and fun detail is the permanent dusting of "sand" on the soles of her feet which my daughter and I noticed blended in with in the packaging's paper beachy background scene. The face is detailed with the usual care and likeness to the character Mattel is known for. However, it was jarring to see this drastically different version of Moana, and almost felt like another character altogether, but again, was true to the live action version it's modeled after.

She comes with a stand that can hold her up and her feet are covered in sand to make it seem as though she is walking through the sand on her pedestal. She is well built, thoughtfully designed and great for all ages.

Firstly, as soon as it arrived, my teenage daughter noted that it looks like the live action actress, and I agree. The outfit is well made and comes with a coordinating stand for displaying. One of my favorite details is the sand on her feet, this seemed like a nice touch. We also like the large conch shell that she holds, and even though it is meant for collectors and display, this would also be fun doll for a younger child to play with as well.

The doll’s feet appear to have sand on them which is a very unique detail that shows nothing was overlooked. The jewelry adds a lot of charm as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter has always loved Moana but for a 10 year old she wasn’t impressed. We haven’t seen the live action movie but even after pulling up photos she said Mattel did Moana wrong. This doll is ugly, sorry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Doll was not really what expected. The face looks kind of funny and the hands were/moved in awkward positions. The skirt and outfit were awkward to get on and off. My daughters just didn’t really care for this doll

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and her friends absolutely LOVE all this Moana and this doll was no exception. She was immediately drawing to the packing and as soon as we opened it so was immediately drawn into the intricate clothing detail. Neat little details like the base having a sand like texture and her feet also having that texture show a great attention to detail. This doll fits so well along the line she will be cherished for years to come.

Her outfit was thoughtfully designed with embroidered flowers, lots of texture, and perfect little tassels. The conch shell accessory is painted realistically. The poseable joints are a nice touch, and she comes with a stand, so you can choose how best to display her! I haven't yet decided whether or not to remove her from the box, as the background scenery and the box itself are also lovely. Moana is a wonderful addition to any Disney collection!

As an adult doll collector, this addition to my collection could not have arrived at a better time—just after our first family trip to Hawaii. Moana features so many charming details in her traditional attire, with the hidden Mickey on her headpiece being one of my favorite touches. Her shell accessory and sand-covered feet are also wonderful complements to the overall scene and help bring the character to life. At first, I noticed that the band around her ankles appeared to be broken, and I wondered if it was some kind of molding or quality-control issue. However, after reading the flavor text on the back of the box, I realized it was an intentional detail meant to represent her time on the beach. What a fun surprise! It's a small detail I’ve never seen incorporated into a doll quite this way before. Overall, I’m really happy to add this Moana to my collection. The thoughtful details, beautiful presentation, and special connection to our recent Hawaii trip make her an especially meaningful addition
