Hold Your Nose!

Were it not for the strong chemical smell, these shorts would receive a rating of 5 stars. I have washed them several times, sprayed them with alcohol, and aired them out. The odor persists. The fabric itself is all cotton and a good weight. The relaxed fit is just what I wanted for comfort, and I appreciate the longer, more modest length which happens to be on trend. Any suggestions how to completely remove the smell would be greatly appreciated!
