Wonderful style for Mother of the Bride. Gorgeous, lightweight fabric, very flattering and a perfect fit with no alterations needed. And can easily be shortened for other events. I love the embroidery. And excellent price!!
This dress came amazingly fast-2 days! It fits, and would not need hemming. I am 5'3", 114 lbs. I read the reviews about the zipper, and mine is slightly off as another in the back bodice, but it isn't noticeable, and doesn't interfere with anything. Zipper works much better than most sequin dresses I've tried. It's pretty with the bodice sequins and sleeves giving it some style w/o being too heavy. The sleeves have sequins sewn on lace on the outside and the design is even on this dress. The color is a little lighter blue in the sun, but the dress is dark navy, I'm not used to dressing up, so the sequins sewn on the outside lace of the sleeves are a little rough inside for my skin, which is sensitive, but sleeves are not too tight. It looks smooth inside. This dress is nice for a black tie formal event like a wedding. Dressy and elegant.
I bought several Alex evening wear gowns in two similar styles-short & longer sleeves.The 16P was a perfect fit for me in both dresses. I’m 5’7” 150 pounds and 38DD. It zipped up easily, the sleeves allow for comfortable arm movement & the length was perfect for 2”-3” heels.The dress was well made and I loved the extra bling in the sequins up top. It is also very flattering for busty gals & hiding the mommy belly. We are going to a destination wedding this September in California for a black tie Rose Garden wedding. This dress is perfect since it’s lightweight, flowing and wrinkle free for travel. My only complaint for not purchasing this navy dress is the color. The bride wants the wedding party to wear brighter colors since the tuxedos are going to be black. This would have been my first choice if there were other color options. I did purchase the cap sleeve version of this Alex Evening dress in slate blue. Same flattering fit with perfect length.
Poorly made. The material on one shoulder is sheer while the other shoulder is covered with the lace and beading. The material on one shoulder, by the neck area, is wider than the other side and the V-neck is uneven. The lace around the waist is not sewn on correctly either. It's all extremely noticeable. No excuse for this quality when paying this price. I've seen better quality from Shein.
Upon examining the dress upon delivery, i could not help but notice the poor construction at the back where the zipper was sewn. There is a wide section where the edges of the two sides do not meet as they should to conceal the zipper. This is a construction flaw which should not have passed inspection as a first class garment. To me it will cause the dress to appear as though it is straining at the seams when worn. Also, the color is much darker than navy. While in my photo the blue is obvious, in actuality the dress appears black. Therefore I do not consider it suitable for a wedding event.
