The base is quite sturdy , so the lamp feels quite safe in the corner. And since both the arm and the shade are movable, the light is accessible from both sides. The dimmer is a separate piece, so I had to work with that cord a little to make it less noticeable. All in all, it looks great in this corner, just the right size so it does not detract from what's around it!
