This is a nice, sturdy lamp and actually has two light bulb sockets in it. There is a metal pull string for each bulb, and the bulbs sit under the shade in an s-shape. You can turn on both bulbs or just one for more or less light. The pull strings themselves seem very sturdy, so I am hoping they last a long time. Overall, a great lamp for the price!
