Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1 Toner Refill, 13.5 oz.

This works well on my aging, dry combination skin. It isn't drying and seems to do the job of exfoliating well. I removed a star because the bottle isn't a dropper cap, like with toners or other exfoliants. More than once I've turned it over and accidentally dumped out a bunch of product because I forgot that it's just a full bottle opening. Waste of product and a mess. Add a plastic disc to the end with a small hole like other products and this would be 5 stars easily.

This clarifying lotion addresses my overall skin dryness and makes it feel soft.

This toner smooths my skin and makes it glow without drying it out. I follow the toner with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream and my skin is very happy!

This is a great product for daily usage. It balances the skin well, good quality, and easy to use.

I love this exfoliator! I use it twice a day for my red, sensitive, acne prone skin. It makes my skin feel smooth and clean, but never tight or dry. I was having dryness issues with the Level 2 exfoliator so I am glad I switched! Soo happy with this purchase! Maybe it'll be travel size soon? ;)

I'm trying to be polite, but I bought Clarifying Lotion 1 because it seems to be the best of the worst for my Type II skin. I used Clarifying Lotion 2 for two decades and loved it. I stopped using it when I developed rosacea and later went on retinoids, but now that my skin has fully adapted and rosacea is in full remission, I wanted to repurchase No 2. I was surprised that it is the only Clarifying Lotion out of all 6 that contains no salicylic acid—its main ingredients are alcohol and witch hazel. I don't understand why a lotion designed for dry/combination skin would include degreasing alcohols/astringents while leaving out the benefits of pore-refining, rosacea-friendly BHA. Even the lotions designed for the most sensitive skin, such as 1.0 contain BHA. I picked up Clarifying Lotion 1 only because Clinique replaced the excellent Mild Clarifying Lotion with version 1.0, which I loathe for the same reasons other reviewers dislike it. Clarifying Lotion 1 is OK, but it doesn't make my skin feel refreshed, I have noticed zero skin refinement, and I've started to see more facial redness. I also wish that Clinique would stop adding dyes to skincare. Finally, naming different products with different goals in the same line (Clarifying Lotion 1 and Clarifying Lotion 1.0) is a skincare mistake waiting to happen and provides a poor (confusing) customer experience.

I've been using Clarifying Lotion #1 for at least 10+ yrs now and it's never done this (see below). I always have 2 bottles on hand as backup. When I changed over to my 2nd bottle recently (2nd was bought at a later time than the first), everyday when I use it, I notice that under my eyes, on the sensitive upper cheek area, it stings when applied, burns a little and turns my skin pink and raw. It also seems to really dry out my skin (skin turns flaky and white in areas until I apply moisturizer) more than usual. I thought it might be from me using additional Clinique products for a more complete skin regimen that I've been doing recently. But none of the other Clinique products I added recently stings or does this. After reading other reviews, it seems it's likely the effects of the alcohol that others have also experienced. #1 has never done this the entire time I've used it over many years. Considered switching to 1.0 but I just don't know now. Has your ratio or list of ingredients in #1 changed recently? Can I anticipate that #1 will always do this going forward? Because if so, I can't use it anymore. I don't use anything on my face, or body, that stings, burns, or turns it red.

Great toner. I apply it after take the day off cleanser. Makes my skin feel fresh and look soft.

I thought that this would be like the toners I used to use - incredibly drying. It was such a nice surprise to use this and have a noticeable change to my skin.

I really like this lotion. Exfoliates my skin well.
