Coleman Montana 8-Person Camping Tent, Family Tent w/ Rainfly and E-Port

Bought the Coleman Montana 8-person tent for a camping trip up in NorCAL with my bf and we loved it! It was spacious, comfortable, and gave us plenty of room for all of our gear without feeling cramped. Setup was pretty straightforward, and it held up throughout our trip. Definitely happy with this purchase and looking forward to using it on many future camping trips!

Bought this tent , used twice and one of the main poles broke and splintered. They only sell the "repair kit" not the whole OEM assembly. Quality is no longer with Coleman products as it used to be years ago.

I purchased this for family camping 13 years ago. It has stood up to multi-day down pours, high winds, and hot summer days. It's very spacious and tall enough to stand up in. During one thunder storm we had 10 people inside playing cards and board games. It takes two people to set up but once you do it a few times it goes up in minutes. Nice features are the auto closing door for the kids going in and out, clip on top to hang a lantern, small equipment pouches, and power cord access. I truly got my moneys worth out of it after 13 years of using it multiple times each spring and summer.

I was honestly worried that since it was cheap it wouldn't hold up to Florida rain. I was glad I was wrong. Rained the whole night and inside stayed completely dry. Door stays ajar if not zipped up, velcro might as well be useless, which is annoying but otherwise having an easy in and out was fantastic. My Marmot 4p tent has 3x more pockets than this 8p tent. It has good ventilation. Stays cool in Florida sun. No other complaints.

We have used the tent twice. I bought it less than 2 yrs ago and the end poles have broke three times. I repaired the poles for the first two times and I have bought a new pole and it has now broke. This tent has been used maybe 10 days. We have followed all directions to set up.

Insane to me that Coleman could degrade to such low quality over the years. The first tent I bought since the Coleman Go two person tent. Right off the bat trying to get this thing set up, one of the poles snaps in half next to my face. Even after the trip I managed to inhale enough fiberglass to make it impossible to eat. My tent also happens to be missing one of the settings for the poles so I can't use the rainfly without sticking a stake sideways into the ground and placing it in the end that way. The whole tent squeaks and creaks throughout the night - not merely the broken pole but everything chafes around in the wind. And good luck getting this thing back into the tiny green zip up bag it comes with. Guarantee that you won't be able to do it without keeping the poles and stakes bags outside of the carry all. There's tons of small things that indicate terrible quality, e.g. the bad stitching on the inside pocket, the boot on the door poles coming off after one use. Overall I won't ever buy a Coleman product again, whether out of spite or because I'm going to die due to fiberglass inhalation.

I love the size of this tent however the tent poles suck. 2 have broken so far. The most recent trip I took, one of the poles broke while the tent was set up and punched a hole through the rainfly. Now I’m in the market for another tent and will be researching brands outside of Coleman.

This tent is nice for set up. However, the rain fly does not cover the whole tent so expect water to get in. The pole holder parts are not durable enough and poles get stuck in the easily and rip material. There is NOT enough ventilation through the tent. Especially if you have to keep your rainfly on. Because it doesn't cover the whole tent you have to keep your side windows closed for rain. So your stuck with your door and the back "ventilation" that doesn't actually let any air through. Very spacious on the inside which is great but we have been turned down from several campground because it's to big (Ex: Rocky Mountain NP. & Yellowstone) I've worked at a camp for 15 years, I have always loved Coleman so I hope someone can design this tent a bit better because the set up is easy and very spacious!

This tent withstood an 80 mph wind/sandstorm, was flung a foot off the ground with the roof against a tree for 15 minutes!!! The curved door pole suffered one break and one of the tent support poles suffered one break. Great build Coleman. Now, I just need 2 replacement poles.

We setup this tent and the next morning I noticed the side poles were tented and not round like it should be. The poles on both sides (the gray poles) snapped. Not even on a connection and of course punctured the pole sleeve and then tore it when we tried to take out the poles. The tent can’t be used again. It seems like a lot of people are having the same issues
