I have been looking for new flatware and I am so glad I chose this set. It is beautiful! Doesn't tarnish or fingerprint easily. It has a wonderful weight to it. I really didn't want something that will not last and this is a winner! The gold accent is classic and the balance of it in you hand is very nice. Highly recommend.
We had a mid 1990's set of Yamazaki flatware that we loved...(shape, weight, proportion)...but over the years a few pieces got lost and a couple more got 'caught' in the garbage disposal. It was time to replace. Our Yamazaki pattern/style is no longer made, so we looked for something as close as we could find. The Mikasa Cameo Gold set is visually very attractive. Quality seems good, although only time will tell about durability. This set is "American size" [not the larger European style] but the dinner forks and knives still feel a bit long and a bit wide. (if you are looking for a trim and tapered shape flatware this may not be your set). The 'balance' is good, no noticeable 'tilt' when you grab fork or spoon. The proportion of the teaspoon (width & depth) will actually hold soup or ice cream without it slip sliding away onto the table. ................ I knocked off a star (almost two stars)....because none of the Macy's stores in my area had 'samples' to go see, touch, and evaluate. In effect we had to purchase "sight unseen" and hope the actual product was what you wanted. The Macy's clerk was polite and suggested that we could "return it" if the Mikasa was not what we wanted, but that would require a bunch of extra steps, repackaging, and hoping I got every piece of packaging back exactly as it was. Macy's needs to at least keep ONE SET OF SAMPLES in their store.
I HAVE THIS SET AND BOUGHT ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER. SHE LOVES IT as much as I do. I have had mine for 3 years and neither the gold nor stainless steel has spotted or tarnished. The craftsmanship, durability and finish are just elegant when used in a table setting both for casual and formal.
I bought this set a month ago and I love it. Love that it includes service for 12 people plus the serving set. The quality is great and the touch of gold is a great accent without being too much.
This is not dishwasher safe and scratches easy
