Over the last several years I have struggled with to the point where I had to stop hiking. I tried every name brand sneaker, hiking shoe and boot. I purchased a pair of new balance hierro’s and I am so happy! I’m back to hiking and doing a mountain mudder race in 2 weeks. Whoever developed this shoe should get a raise. Not only are they waterproof and COMFORTABLE, the soles are super grippy. I am a very active 68 year old and feel like New Balance has allowed me to be myself again. I can’t thank you enough.
Purchased to wear walking the Camino Portuguese. Trained in them for more than 350 miles and four months. Wore for 100 miles along the actual trail. Can’t compare to any other hiking shoes but I found these super comfortable while doing everything from rocky terrain, lots of roots, cobblestone, or asphalt. Comfortable training in TX heat and a downpour or two as well as on the actual camino. I wore merino toe socks, bought a size larger than my street shoe size as they recommend, and had no blistering. Also they were washed multiple times over the course of training and dried with no tightening or shape shifting.
