New Balance has always been my favorite sneaker. Tracking down a pair of these in my size, was not easy, but it was absolutely worth it! Not too heavy and they don't get too hot like some other hiking shoes. And they keep my feet dry! Definitely would recommend.
I wore these on a 6 day hike in the Scottish Borders. They were comfortable from the entire time. Lightweight, easy to walk in and supportive. The terrain was not rough or rocky so these are the ideal footwear.
Great boots but sole is too cushioned. I wish these would have worked out for me; I have a pair of Hierro hikes from a few years ago and they have been great, but this new style is too cushioned. I have lower back problems with shoes that have a lot of cushioning so I hope the trend of squishy shoes reverses soon.
Love the Hiker! Great style, great comfort, and a great fit. I like this color, but it’s a little lighter than I’d prefer — I wish it came in a darker option like black. Overall, though, it’s a great shoe. It honestly feels more like a 1080 sneaker with added ankle support.
I've been WAITING for New Balance to make this exact shoe (or wishing they would) for several years. The minute I saw them, I purchased. My use case: I live in Chicago and walk at night, in the winter. Walking in boots during the cold months injured my feet. I needed something with a running shoe type base (I have and love the 1080's), but Goretex with more wind, water, and therefore light insulating capabilities. I bought them a half size up and wear them with an ultra thick pair of wool socks. They've been fantastic so far and I can wear them down to about zero degrees for a 20-40 minute walk. Lower temps than that, and I have to switch to boots. Thanks New Balance for making an awesome pair of running/walking shoes for winter use!
This shoes are so comfortable. Great for long periods of time standing. Which more colors.
Got these when a podiatrist recommended a rocker toe and supportive ankles, and my kid actually thinks they're cool. What more can you ask than that? (Well ok, maybe offering these in narrow width is something I'd ask for... the B is pretty spacious in this model. Works ok with my A foot but only because I added my own insole on top of the factory one instead of replacing it.)
Excellent comfortably and good quality. I like it. It is recommended for snow and wet conditions and has a good grip. It is safe for walking and the size fits me.
So far - comfortable, definitely dry and warm. The only complaint are the hooks on the sides, I wish they were just holes. The lace on my right shoe caught the hooks on my left shoe and I went down on my face, luckily into a foot of snow. Get rid of the hooks!! They are dangerous!
The overall shoe is comfortable, however it's not wide enough near the medial post and on the outer side there is firm foam. This combination causes the ankle/foot to roll inward instead of maintaining a neutral gait. Disappointed that the X more last has been dropped in favor of the Hierro 👎🏼
