These are incredibly comfortable with a good toe box and the best cushioning I've seen in Altra, which I think is a huge improvement opportunity for them. Because of that, I'm returning and switching back to Hoka's. After a long run, it just pounds the pad under my big toe too hard leaving that area sorer. If that's not a problem for you, they're great. BTW, I have hallux rigidus which factors.

the fit is good especially the width. The length is a fraction longer than big toe. My foot does not slip within shoe and heel cuff comfortable. I am nt aware of arch so don't know if supported or not. I have knee and back issues and these shoes have reduced the impact on both despite just being 4mm drop.
As a die hard fan of the original fwd via I was afraid the new version wouldn’t work for me with the updated softer foam but I took a chance & although the ride is a bit more “plush” I still wouldn’t call it soft . Responsive , but not mushy. I can’t do soft max cushion shoes with my back problems , & it will cause instant knee pain. Happy to report that I can continue wearing this shoe ! The toe box still feels like their original one with plenty of room but still hugs the heel the way I need it to.
This is my second pair. I ordered 7; wear a 6 for every day shoes . Toe box is nice n wide; my toes did not hurt after a run. I run about 3 miles 4-5 days a week. I would recommend
The toe box is very wide.
This shoe rubbed my right ankle and my slight bunions. It was well cushioned but not for me. The tongue was the longest I have seen in my shoe search.
The area at the top of the shoelace eyelets was too tight. There's no give in the material that us used for the eyelets.
Currently I wear the Torin 8 in a wide. The Fwd Via 2 were recommended to me for a similar fit with a 4 mm heel drop. While they are very comfortable, more so than the Torin, they were not wide enough. Hoping Altra offers these in a wide in the near future. If you have a regular or narrow foot, I’d highly recommend them for comfort.
