I have tried many running shoes and these are my new favorites due to their excellent fit and cushioning. The anatomic toe box really does make a difference. I wish they offered more color options in their wide width shoes.
My favorite running shoe is the New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 V12 in wide. Both shoes are roomy in the toe box, which I like. But the Atmos 2 is way too loose for me in the heel area, no matter how tight I tie the laces. The Atmos 2 also has too much cushion for my liking, similar to the newer versions of the Fresh Foam X 1080. It's that extreme cushion feel that feels like I'm too high up and also feels unstable. I know that this is a trend in running shoes that started several years back. I've never been a fan of it. Maybe going a half size down or trying the normal width at the same size would fit my feet correctly, but I still would be uncomfortable with the extreme cushion style. So it's not a good fit for me, but it could be for you if you like the modern extreme cushion feel and you find the right size. I wish I could just stick with the Fresh Foam X 1080 New Balance line, but I'm trying out other brands such as Topos because of the changes made to that shoe since the V12, specifically the narrowing of the toe box and the shoe's transition to an extreme cushioning style.
