I expected Mephisto to be something special given the price, but found the shoe to have very average styling and quality. The leather feels as thin as any other shoe and the construction overall is just OK. There was nothing special about the feel or look of this shoe, so I sent it back and ordered a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes for 1/6 the price. They feel and look at least as good as the Mephistos, and by the time I break even, those 6 pairs of Kenneth Coles should last me the rest of my life.

Extremely fine shoes which ran one full size too large. Thanks to Zappos, I returned them and ordered one full size smaller. Haven’t received them yet, but I’m extremely hopeful that these will fit beautifully. Can’t wait to wear them!

Absolutely first class comfortable shoes!!! Be warned though, because my experience was that they run a full size too large. Zappos was great, as usual, about exchanging for the proper size. Just got them, but I’m sure that I will live in the shoes for years to come.

Mephisto always run about half size large with nice fitting last. This is my 5th pair of Marlon in 10 years and just retiring the first pair after 2nd resoling wore thin. Fabulous shoes for those 20k step days.

Age 61, weight 200, fit. Walk quite a bit. This Marlon model is the world's least expensive excellent shoe, even though it sells at $400. The ratio of cost to comfortable duration is a superb value. The leather lining and the real rubber sole are key attributes. I prefer a 12.5 and this 12.0 wears like one. I am a 3rd time buyer of Mephisto Marlon in black. I have a high arch and very normal feet, no problems in my life, ever. The Marlon is the most comfortable business shoe I know. I've also bought the cordovan color (calf leather) in Europe and it was a steal at 200 Euros. Prior years I had a number of Allen Edmonds and a couple of Aldens. Ref photo 1 below, pairs from left to right are 15 years, 8 years and new. In photo 2, compare new with 15 years.
