They are not pretty but they get me through an 8 hour work day in flying colors. these shoes offer such great support that when I take my shoes off at night I can actually relax and not fight the tension in my feet. I'm sold on them!

I had a similar experience -- five years on, the uppers are in excellent condition -- nearly good as new. But last week the sole cracked all the way through across the ball of the foot. Irreparable, says my shoe repairperson. I will call Eastland to complain -- Zappos gave me the number. Maybe if enough people complain they will choose better materials.

I LOVE these shoes. I've had bunion surgery which ended well, but now I have Morton's neuromas and have a very difficult time finding shoes I can wear all day without pain. It's also been hard to find PLAIN, nice looking, well made leather shoes I could wear in a variety of situations. These were comfy from the first day. My feet are rather narrow but I got the wide size as that was the only one available at the time. They are fine, and I could probably put orthotics in them with no problem, but I haven't even felt the need yet. From a health standpoint, if they were made with a bit more rounding around the ball joint (like some minimus running shoes), they would be the absolutely perfect shoe for people with bunions or people wanting to AVOID bunions. These give me enough support but not TOO much cushion and cradling which I have found is counterproductive. I am thrilled to find, at long last, a shoe that I can wear all day and not have my feet screaming by the late afternoon. They look great as well. I can't attest to their longevity yet, but they look well made. I highly recommend this shoe to anyone!

I love these shoes. The detailing is just fun enough not to look so much like uniform shoes, and they are so comfortable! They have a removable footbed and a lovely thin, green liner already in there once the footbed is removed. I used to buy the thinnest Spenco inserts for that purpose, so it's nice not to have to spend that extra $10.00. The shoes are deep enough that I can put in my custom orthotic without any problems. These are my go-to winter shoes. I love the lacing. I bought a pair in brown, too, and they are super-cute!

These are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Plenty of room for my toes, including a couple of odd-shaped ones; cushy on the bottom with good support. They're not dressy, obviously, but with jeans or casual pants which is what I'm wearing most of the time--they are great. I wear 8 or 8 1/2 wide; based on some reviews that found them a little narrow , I ordered 8 1/2, and they fit perfectly.

Beware, quality alert! Made in China from inferior stuff, these shoes break. I ordered a pair of Plainviews in August 2013 (not inexpensive). Only 3 1/2 months of daily wear later (sidewalks, subway, carpeted office) the sole of one split completely in two at the flex point. Other reviewers have had a similar experience. The Eastland Plainview isn't especially comfortable, either; I'd been planning to get some inserts to provide a little arch support but the shoe busted before I had a chance. Please please PLEASE--people who have just ordered and started wearing a new pair of shoes should REFRAIN from reviewing on Zappos. Immediate positives crowd out voices informed by experience. What matters is how long shoes last, how they wear over time. I see they've recently dropped the price but Eastland Plainviews are not worth any money and they're garbage. This American brand deserves a BOYCOTT for offshoring production and leaving its credulous customers to take the loss.

This is my 3rd pair of Eastland Plainview-not because the others wore out but because they are so comfortable. I wanted to make sure I would have 'back ups' in my closet! They are perfect for traveling, light weight and actually hold my orthodics. They are not the most beautiful shoe but their comfort keeps me putting them back on!

The regular width was too narrow across the balls of my feet so I ordered a wide. It gave me the space I needed there even if it is looser overall than I like my shoes.

These shoes have a great, casual, yet professional look, which is exactly what I was looking for. They are a little on the narrow side for a wide width shoe (I purchased a 9 Wide), but after breaking in, they are okay. The soles are plasticy - which is what brings my rating from 5 stars to 4. I just wish they were more of a lug sole. But they are extremely lightweight for a sturdy shoe like this. The only other negative is that they seem to make my feet stink! They must not allow much air flow, which causes them to sweat - which is not a problem I've had before, so I know it's the shoes.

I have worn many styles of Eastland oxfords over the years and love them; however, I was very disappointed to find that this shoe in a wide feels narrower than my older Eastland in a medium.
