Douglas 05

JS shoes are some of my favorite . . . that being said, I bought my first pair of "dress" JS shoes just a couple of months ago. I was in a hurry to get a pair of very comfortable yet stylish shoes to wear during a trade show event over several days, and have had great comfort experience with their casual shoes previously, so gave the Douglas 05s a try, and boy am I glad I did. As all sales pros know, the rule of thumb for a trade show is NEVER wear a brand new pair of unbroken shoes . . . Well, my experience with these JS shoes was the exact opposite. I covered not less than five miles walking (plus standing time) the show over a three day period, 9-10 hour days. The shoes were and are, simply amazing—total comfort from start to finish—and like a fine wine, they keep getting better with age!

The sole material is a strange slick molded piece. That's OK overall, but they squeak. I've owned them for about 9 months, and every day, they make a plastic-squeaking sound from the soles.

These shoes are called the European Comfort Shoe for a reason. The sole is thin, however very flexible and durable. This is my second pair of these shoes, and I love them. They are super light, and the leather is very soft. The style is very classy, and looks rich with a well tailored suit. Well worth the money.

When these first arrived, I thought they were a bit lower volume in the forefoot than the Sander model, yet they were a bit loose in the heel. I found, however, that a small felt pad added to the tongue made them fit just fine. They wear well, the leather quality is well above average so they don't pick up scuffs easily. They are leather lined so they don't stink after long use. Overall, and excellent everyday dress shoe.

This is generally a well-made, attractive shoe. The main drawback is the molded plastic, slippery sole. I was also expecting a little more cushioning for a "comfort" shoe. I prefer shoes that can be re-soled, and I'm not sure about these.

Very lightweight and comfortable. Better, in my opinion, than Ecco's for all-day wear. Hand made quality.

The shoes are the most comfortable dress/business shoe I have ever owned. They are comfortable and have style. No loss of looks to comfort.

I wouldn't buy unless you have a long foot. The odd zig-zag on front makes your foot look really short. Leather is much nicer and more supple, than the cheap leather used on the Rockport and Ecco dress shoes.
