Ikebukuro - 2911

I need to update my review from a few days ago. The shoe laces that came with these very expensive shoes broke today, less than two weeks after I received the shoes in the mail from Zappos. I have requested replacement shoe laces, but that is simply unacceptable from a pair of shoes that cost well over $300 to purchase.

Do not be afraid to purchase the Ikebukuro-2911. The rocker style of this shoe is not as extreme as the MBT brand. There is an ample toe box, excellent arch support and comfort. I have the Espresso Corten/Jasmine Okapi. The soft metallic goes with everything and is not overly shiny. Think of how much money you've spent trying to find the right shoe. The Ikeburo-2911 is worth every penny.

The Ikebukuros are really, really nice shoes. I bought many pairs of shoes and returned them before I found them. I damaged the metatarsal joint in my right foot and I have had a hard time finding a pair of shoes that I could wear all day. The moment I put them on I knew that they were going to work out. One of the other reviewers said they have to be broken in and she was right. I have been wearing them for just over two weeks and they are becoming more comfortable every day. They are not quite there yet but they will be. They offer lots of arch support and that is something else that you have to get used to. They feel very different when you first start wearing them but in a couple of days the only thing you notice is how comfortable they are. One of the reviewers said she had a hard time finding the right size. She wears a 7 and had to buy an 8. I wear a 7 and purchased a 7. Anything bigger would have been too big. The leather is very soft and I am pretty certain that it will stretch over time. I am very happy with the shoes. They are worth every penny. And there is a bonus. Finn offers a Shoe Renewal Program!

I love Ikeburos and have them in different colors. They run true to size. The Finnimic sole is flat out amazing for walking - I walked all over Europe often 8-10 miles a day in my Finns and there's no other shoe I could have done that with (cobblestones are tough!). One note is that the Taupe color is a smooth leather - it's stiffer and harder to break in than the Black which is nubuck. It's hard to tell from the pictures. Thank you Zappos for carrying a great selection of Finn Comforts!!

I have purchased Finn's before and loved them, but I found the "rolling" aspect of this shoe to be annoying and not for me. In addition, the arch support is prominent and did not "hit" my arch in the correct spot.

First off let me just say that once you try these shoes everything else will just seem cheap and uncomfortable! The only thing uncomfortable about these shoes is the price. Okay, once we have that out of the way I have to say that the sizing on these shoes is just weird. Prepare to order a range of sizes (thank you Zappos)! I am a consistent size 7 (37 euro)...which is supposedly a 4.5 UK size, but not even close! I tried everything from a 4 to a 6. Finally found a 5.5 fit in both length and width. Phew! I also should mention that these don't look terrible either...they almost look like regular Chucks...almost. You will hardly notice the rocker sole, especially on the black sole. If you have the dough, and the patience to find the right size, you wont regret your purchase.

I like these shoes so much I have them in two colors, blue and tan. I have had arthritis in my big toe joint since I was about 28, but I can walk pain free in these shoes. As an earlier reviewer noted, it takes a little while to conform to your foot, but it isn't a miserable experience to get to that point, just a little uncomfortable. Another good thing about these shoes is the insulation! My feet stay warm while those of others become ice blocks on cold but snow-free winter days. My daughter doesn't care for the style of this shoe; it's the thick sole that bothers her I think. I suppose it is a wee bit clunky, but I myself feel that the Finn Comfort company did an admirable job of making them as cute they actually are! Totally worth the investment.

For some reason, I expected the taupe to be suede. It is not. And while the leather is soft and the color is true to what I see on my monitor, the overall effect is very orthopedic as opposed to the same shoe in Atlantic navy which are suede and super cute sneakers!

So, my seemingly never ending quest to find a comfortable pair of walking sneakers continues. I have purchased sneakers ranging from $50 to this Finn Comfort costing $365. Yes, the Finn Comfort is extremely well made of "great" material. Construction looks perfect. But... the suede is not comfortable. The arch is too high for me. It pinches across the toes. So once again, I am returning these shoes. But, I did find one comfortable pair of sneakers...Easy Spirit.

These are one of the nicest pairs of shoes I've ever owned. I was a bit reluctant to spend so much on a pair of shoes, but as I approach 50, I can't tolerate uncomfortable shoes. I used to love my MBT sneakers, and I like Merrill shoes. My feet are not wide, but foot doc diagnosed me with "hammer-toe" on both feet about 10 years ago. It's caused by a loose tendon in the bottom of the foot. I used to wear backless clogs almost exclusively in my college years and twenties, and this may have contributed to toes clutching. I still find that unless I am wearing a thin sock, one of my hammer toes hurts a bit by the end of the day, but they are my go-to shoe for walking around town. The footbed of this shoe molds to your foot. I once had a pair of handmade shoes from Italy that were like this. At first, one thinks the surface is too hard, but then the shoe molds to one's foot. I'm between a 7.5 and an 8, and the 7.5 is fine. I've had these shoes for over a year, and they are well-worn now. I'd recommend these shoes.
