I’m mainly disappointed these did not come through with a truly extra wide shaft circumference. The listed dimensions have a shaft circumference of only 18.75 in, which I personally would call a ‘wide’ shaft, not extra wide. However, several reviewers had indicated that there’s quite a bit of stretch due to the goring on the back of the calf and I hoped it would accommodate my 20 inch calf due to the stretch. Definitely not. I couldn’t zip this up past the first part of my ankle. And the goring had extremely limited stretch to it. Overall they’re a nice enough boot, but I had a hard time seeing a quality that truly seemed to justify the $290 price point. They feel like an average quality of construction/workmanship, and honestly the upper seems like an imitation leather even though I know it’s listed as being real leather - it just had that lower quality feel to it (and for what it’s worth didn’t smell like real leather either). My two cents: For truly extra wide calf girlies, I’d keep looking. For those who have the right size calves for these boots, I feel like you can find an equivalent quality product at a lower price point.

I had this exact same pair of boots a few years ago. Got tired of it and donated it, and could not find another that I liked. So I repurchased this same exact boots again for a second time--what a disappointment with the quality!! Its the same exact boots for a lot more money than I paid for the original pair a few years back but it is OF MUCH LOWER QUALITY LEATHER. I am terribly disappointed because IT DOES NOT LOOK NOR FEEL LIKE REAL LEATHER. Felt ripped off but it is a comfortable and relatively stylish boots, so I kept it.
They feel cheap. The shaft is nowhere near the circumference advertised. Returning them.
Finding boots that fit my large feet with high instep, as well as muscular calves has been difficult. These boots are perfect; great fit for my feet and legs, and they look stylish.
7WW black. Good-fitting boot for a short-legged (5’3”), wide footed with high instep person … with large calves! Have bought David Tates before so knew to order exact size on boots that are WW. (Normally I would go up 1/2 size to accommodate socks, width, etc., in other brands or if normal width). There’s still room in the foot box to let me include my orthotic insole. Great.
The stretchy insert on the back panel looks off. Did not zip over my wide calf, even with stretch panel. The ankle/foot bed was stiff/narrow. Overall, didn’t look like high quality compared to the cost. Kinda disappointed that these companies make “wide fit/wide calf” but charge so much more for lower quality boots.
Circumference of the shaft is too narrow. Not as advertised.
Beautiful boot! Unfortunately, the calf circumference was still too small even though labeled as extra wide.
The extra wide shaft is neither wide nor extra wide. Fail.
