6" Iron Ranger Lug

Good enough to fit my Brannock size at the ball of the foot where the boots flexes. Almost an inch of extra length at the toe. Some people will go down a half size. This is the version with the Vibram mini lug soles. Not the neo-cork nitrile.

I think the people that rate this boot a low score is they don’t know what heritage boots are supposed to feel on their feet. Initially they will feel hard and tough to break in the insole but the uppers broke in easily for me. It’s the insole that’s 100% leather and the midsole is rubber. You can feel a perfect fit right off the bat if you sized correctly. Sure it’s tough insole but all heritage boots that uses a leather insole are going to feel the same. It feels like a pair of Birkenstocks and they will mold to your feet but you just have to get used to the feeling. A shoe with a hard tough sole is going to support you more than a pair of sneakers. I’ve been wearing them for 3 days straight and the insole is breaking in and getting softer. To speed up the process of the break in you can apply some Bick 4 to the insoles at night, put a cedar shoe tree in it and then they’ll be ready for wear the next day. No joke. Just have faith.

I guess I just have to give up on these. I wore a pair for 10 years until the cat peed on them, at which point I decided to let them go. I wanted to replace them but Im not able to get a matched pair. After going through 8 different pairs, each has had noticeable variation in size between the left and right boot, different length toecaps between the left and right, etc. I'm not being particularly picky, but I would like for my pair of boots to be more or less of equal length and width. I'm bummed but it's too much money to spend on mismatched boots.

Nothing wrong with these boots, excellent design, great quality, and built to last, but I returned them. With winter here combined with a ailing foot issue from an old injury, I didn't want to deal with breaking in the leather over the next few months. I might try the same pair again in the spring when the leather is more pliable.

Hard as a rock. Apparently, they break in eventually, but I don't see how they could ever be comfortable. Returned.

Break-in can be a bit rough. Double socks and the Red Wing oil helps a lot. I've just passed the year mark, wearing these every work day as a construction Project Manager. They hold up well, and look good in meetings.

They fit as expected, 1/2 size larger than sneakers. Leather quality is excellent, you can smell them as soon as the box opens. The leather is thick and beautiful. Just know there’s little to know shock absorption but that’s will pretty much all heritage boots. Expect a break in period, as you should with all the heritage boots. I personally always go with 1/2 size smaller but if you have wide feet go wide (if available) true to size if wide isn’t available. Once broken in you’ll love them and will reach for them before any sneaker you have.
