The whole idea, from what my mind would comprehend, of buying an 8" boot is to have ANKLE SUPPORT!!! (Or protection). I fractured my ankle while wearing th 6" version of this boot and thought... "Well, while I heal and get strength back in my ankle, I''ll get the *" shaft to support the joint better". Nope! Think deerskin glove soft leather. You'd get more support by wearing two pair of socks. You'd could get mosquito bites through these shafts. It would be nice if they at minimum had a fiberglass or kydex stay of some sort sewn in. Great for watching football in your lounge chair, just be careful not to blow out your fibia when you have to walk to the kitchen for more Cheetos!

Found these boots to be too large, ordered the wrong size twice and gave up, for now. I may circle back and try again. I think they are sharp looking and would probably buy arch supports- if you need that extra support.
