The Combs Crazy Horse Leather boot is impressive. Crazy Horse cow leather is the very best (and most expensive) leather for boots. The leather is left raw and treated with oils that provide some water resistance. All the scars of natural cow leather show up after a few days of wear, making the boot appear beat up and worn. No two pairs look the same. A great look. Rubbing with Wonder Balsam brings out a richer and darker tone. I wear a men's size 10.5 in running shoes. The size 10 Combs was slightly loose until I replaced the thin insole with an higher, firmer arch support insole. Now it has a snug but comfortable fit. Breaking in was easy. Four hours a day in the house for two days and then a full 14 hour day in and out doors. Socks must be higher than the boot. I keep the laces VERY loose at the "bend" from hole three to hole six. Oddly, for boots that feel heavy in the box, they feel light while walking...a similar high top "Chucks". Combs are great boots for people who are on their feet for long hours. And they are great for an evening out. A 24 hour boot.

So this is my first pair of leather Docs. I have a pair of the “ballistic nylon” shoes and they fit without break-in. These will take some wearing to loosen up which I was prepared for. I used the wonder balsam and the super protectant on them which changed the tone of the leather a bit. I’m honestly good with the slightly shinier look to the crazy horse leather, but others may prefer the original finish…
The boots are very cute but run large. I am a 6.5, got 7, as there are. I half sizes but it’s way large. Exchanging for 6 instead.
So impressed, I was going on a trip & wasn't going to wear them in case they needing breaking in. I did wear a sock that just came above the top of the boots. However, i didn't really need as these boots were awesome. beyond comfortable & well made. I wouldn't say they run big but are a bit wider so you could possibly downsize. I won't as i can wear thick socks with them also. I loveee them & even being laced they were easy to take on & off for tsa. Great boots especially at that price :))
What happened to Dr Martens. These used to be my go-to shoes and now they are just horrible with sizing.

Leather is soft and seems durable. Sizing is as expected. A lot of doc martens seem a little extra roomy for sizing, buy these are spot on. More comfortable than a pair of lower doc boots I ordered at same time.
Good sturdy fabric and flexible but supportive, but feels more like a winter boot than an all-year boot
Material is thicker and more like a winter boot than I was looking for, but it's really comfortable and seems more flexible than the original shiny leather.
I wouldn’t normally say “right out of the box” with Doc Martens as they do take some time to break in but these felt good right out of the box. I really dig the more subtle look as some of their styles are a bit neo for me. These are just evil enough to do the job but understated ….
