Helsinki 2.0 Bike Toe Tie

I've been buying these shoes for over a decade. But clearly, Ecco has started cutting corners. This pair is made from a thinner, lower quality leather, and the stitching is different. The shoe looks and feels cheap. It also is a completely different fit than those I have ordered in the past (wide, long). Really disappointed.

Advertised as an American six and a half only to find out it's truly a European size 40 which is a size 8 in American not correctly sized

This shoe is an update of the ECCO Helsinki Bike Toe shoe. I like the original slightly better as this one seems to slip a little on my heel. Perhaps that will lessen as it gets broken in. I like ECCO shoes.

Good fit. Plenty of room in toe area. Has removable insole if you want to use orthotics.

I'm a 9.5 and ordered the size 43. The shoes fit well and not loose. In my line of work, I stand up to 4 hours straight in the morning and afternoon...the shoes are comfortable throughout the day.

Great shoe, just not for my feet. I’m a 10… fit about whole size too big and was cut too low on sides for my liking.

Like other reviewers, I loved my Helsinki 1's and had several pairs. But the Helsinki 2's are "cheap". Much less attention to detail - for example, the originals had stitching on the soles, but the new ones are just molded plastic. The uppers had way more features, stitching, and 3-D effects. It's really too bad, and they aren't worth the price any more. It's a "fine" shoe, but nothing special. Now I have to go shoe shopping to find something I like again.

Too tight

I had the same pair of shoes a few years ago but these are cut more narrow and I can't wear them and will return them. I usually wear an 8 1/2 or 9 but ordered a 41 and the length was just right.

For many years I've bought Ecco's 'Helsinki' style (lace-up versions) shoes for everyday wear, mostly the 'biker-toe' style, and also sometimes the 'apron' style. They've now changed the design to what they call 'Helsinki 2', and the 'apron' style appears to have been discontinued. 'Helsinki 2' is very much a deterioration. The sole is now a much smoother finish giving less grip, plus less tread on the heel part of the sole unit, and the soles squeak on smooth flooring. Although the overall shape of the shoe is the same, the stitching pattern is different making the shoe appear less streamlined. The back of the shoe is built up higher than before and feels less comfortable. The removable footbed 'sock' is much softer and more 'spongy' than before, gives less support, and again actually feels less comfortable The shoes are now labelled as 'dual fit' by means of a secondary footbed 'sock' which you can remove . . . a completely unnecessary addition for this type of shoe in my opinion. Finally the quality of the leather is not as good as it was, less flexible and thus again less comfortable than what they were previously where I could wear them straight out of the box and feel I'd been wearing them 'forever' in terms of comfort. Great shame, and having bought one pair of 'Helsinki 2', I won't be buying any more.
