440 Trail

These are quality made shoes. The toe box is certainly narrower than I would have thought. I’m going to stretch them out, and see if they fit a little better. The length is perfect. Just the toe box is narrow. Great looking shoe!

I have been wearing New Balance shoes for 40 years now, always my favorite brand. I only recently started purchasing online which is excellent and efficient, no complaints there. I ordered 440 trail in black. Great construction and good overall shoes though likely my least favorite pair in the 40-year history. 1. These shoes are too narrow. They were not available in your normal width options. I bought the correct size luckily, slightly too long but that helps accommodate the lack of width. 2. The arch support and general bottom-of-the foot support is insufficient. The support is not terrible, but could definitely be improved. 3. For reference I have an old pair of NB 1400 which are superior in every way to these new shoes I received. You should consider modifying the 440 in a way which more closely resembled the 1400 model. 4. Lastly and only a personal preference, I recommend holes all the way to the top row, rather than the current design which has hooks for the top 2 rows. *NB trail or hiking shoes would sell in much higher volumes and in more markets if sufficient advertising and promotion were implemented. I didn't even know NB made these types of shoes until a couple years ago when I actually researched it for myself. You should create an ad campaign focusing on the huge diversity of shoes and your specialty footwear, not just your running shoes which are the only thing most people know you for. I own several businesses myself so I know how important it is to hear reports like this from "boots on the ground" no pun intended. The look is really cool but the quality isn't great. Feels like I could rip the shoe in two if I pulled hard enough. Thin on bottom and the top of the shoe really digs into the back of your ankles. Maybe I have a pair with a defect?

I have been earing NB sneakers for 20 years. I needed hiking boots. These are NOT. I even asked NB atter I received them and the rep said they are not for hiking. I'm so confused!!!

I have owned New Balance shoes in the past, so felt confident ordering ones online without actually seeing/trying them on in person. Big mistake. Firstly, for the cost of the shoes, I would expect a decent insole and not just a cheap 1/4" piece of foam. I ended up having to spend additional money after the fact to purchase suitable ones from another store. And secondly, the quality control on these shoes is sub par. The back panel on the one shoe is stitched on crooked, which is very noticeable when you look at the design on the shoe. Overall they are a cool shoe, and I ended up keeping them, despite the issues. Just beware of purchasing shoes sight unseen. I would expect better from a reputable company such as this.

Good sneaker: Good sneaker Wish the quality on the materials were a bit more Premium (leather)
